Weekly Film Music Roundup (September 14, 2018)
Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action thriller The Predator directed by Shane Black and starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown and Yvonne Strahovski. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack EP featuring three tracks from the composer’s score today and will release a full soundtrack album later this month. Click here for more information.
Also opening wide is the thriller A Simple Favor directed by Paul Feig and starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart and Rupert Friend. Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Tropic Thunder, Ghostbusters, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) has composed the film’s original score. ‘Don’t Leave Home’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the horror thriller Don’t Leave Home. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Montes (Wild Canaries, Always Shine, Ping Pong Summer). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Don’t Leave Home is written and directed by Michael Tully and stars Anna Margaret Hollyman, Lalor Roddy, Helena Bereen, Davd McSavage and Karrie Fox. The movie follows an American artist who becomes obsessed with an urban legend and his investigation into the origin of the myth leads him to the eerie estate of a reclusive painter in Ireland.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the caper comedy Focus written and directed by Glenn Ficarra & John Requa and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Rodrigo Santoro and Gerald McRaney. The film’s original music is composed by Nick Urata (Paddington, Ruby Sparks) who previously scored the director’s I Love You Phillip Morris and Crazy, Stupid, Love. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by Bruno Hovart, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Sofa Surfers, Iggy & The Stooges, Doris & Kelley, Barbara Lewis & more. Sarah Schachner (Assassin’s Creed: Unity) has composed the film’s original music. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring Schachner’s score earlier this week. ‘Wild Canaries’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the indie comedy Wild Canaries. The album feature the film’s original music composed by Michael Montes (Whipped, Ping Pong Summer). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Wild Canaries is written and directed by Lawrence Michael Levine and stars himself, alongside Sophia Takal, Alia Shawkat and Jason Ritter. The movie follows a Brooklyn couple that suspects foul play in the death of their elderly neighbor and decides to investigate.The comedy premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released in select theaters and on VOD today, February 25 by Sundance Selects/IFC Films.
