Variety is reporting that in addition to Green Book, three more scores have been ruled ineligible by the Academy’s music branch. Among ineligible titles are Solo: A Star Wars Story (composed by John Powell with themes by John Williams), which was reportedly submitted too late, Mandy (composed by Johann Johannsson), which violated the rule of its qualifying theatrical release (as the movie was released on VOD simultaneously), and The Other Side of the Wind (composed by Michel Legrand), which didn’t meet the same rule that Green Book was disqualified for.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (September 14, 2018)
Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action thriller The Predator directed by Shane Black and starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown and Yvonne Strahovski. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Also opening wide is the thriller A Simple Favor directed by Paul Feig and starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart and Rupert Friend. Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Tropic Thunder, Ghostbusters, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) has composed the film’s original score. The full details of the soundtrack album for the thriller Mandy have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by late composer Johann Johannsson (Arrival, Sicario, The Theory of Everything, Prisoners). The soundtrack will be released on September 14, 2018 by Lakeshore Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Johann Johannsson to Score Panos Cosmatos’ ‘Mandy’
Johann Johannsson is attached to score the upcoming action thriller Mandy. The film will be directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) and is set to star Nicolas Cage. The movie is set in the primal wilderness of 1983 where a broken and haunted man hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life. Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller (Cooties, Camino) & Elijah Wood are producing the project for Spectrevision, alongside Nate Bolotin (The Raid 2) for XYZ Films and Adrian Politowski (Erased) for Umedia. The composer has previously scored 2013’s McCanick produced by Noah & Waller.
