Intrada Records has announced a CD release of the deluxe edition soundtrack album for the Lucasfilm’s 2018 feature Solo: A Star Wars Story directed by Ron Howard and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thandiwe Newton and Paul Bettany. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, The Bourne Identity, Happy Feet, Don’t Worry Darling, X-Men: The Last Stand). John Williams has provided the Han Solo theme. The 2-CD set is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release.

John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Shrek, Happy Feet, Chicken Run, X-Men: The Last Stand) has announced the track list for the deluxe edition soundtrack album of Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story directed by Ron Howard and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thandie Newton and Paul Bettany. The album features the Academy Award-nominated composer’s expanded original score from the movie, including over 40 minutes of previously unreleased music. John Williams provided the Han Solo Theme. The soundtrack is set to be released next month by Walt Disney Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services.
‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, ‘Mandy’ & ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ Scores Ruled Ineligible for Academy Awards
Variety is reporting that in addition to Green Book, three more scores have been ruled ineligible by the Academy’s music branch. Among ineligible titles are Solo: A Star Wars Story (composed by John Powell with themes by John Williams), which was reportedly submitted too late, Mandy (composed by Johann Johannsson), which violated the rule of its qualifying theatrical release (as the movie was released on VOD simultaneously), and The Other Side of the Wind (composed by Michel Legrand), which didn’t meet the same rule that Green Book was disqualified for.

John Williams to Compose Theme for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’
John Williams revealed in a recent interview with Variety that he will compose the theme for the title character for the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story. As reported this past summer, John Powell is composing the score for the movie directed by Ron Howard and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo. Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi) and Jon Kasdan wrote the screenplay. Kathleen Kennedy (Jurassic Park, The Sixth Sense) is producing the project with Allison Shearmur (Cinderella) and Simon Emanuel (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).
