The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the comedy Office Christmas Party directed by Josh Gordon & Will Speck and starring Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Munn, Kate McKinnon, Courtney B. Vance, T.J. Miller, Vanessa Bayer, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Rob Corddry, Abbey Lee, Karan Soni and Matt Walsh. The film’s original score is composed by Theodore Shapiro (Ghostbusters, Tropic Thunder, The Devil Wears Prada). Opening semi-wide in around 600 theaters is the comedy The Bounce Back directed by Youssef Delara and starring Shemar Moore, Nadine Velazquez, Bill Bellamy, Sheryl Underwood and Kali Hawk. Reza Safinia (Filly Brown, The Trust, Birth of the Dragon) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows a relationship guru and best-selling author who finds himself falling for the licensed therapist who questions his methods. The comedy is being released by Viva Pictures. H. Scott Salinas & Reza Safinia Scoring George Nolfi’s ‘Birth of the Dragon’

H. Scott Salinas and Reza Safinia are composing the music for the upcoming biographical drama Birth of the Dragon. The film is directed by George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau) and stars Billy Magnussen, Xia Yu and Philip Wan-Lung Ng. The movie chronicles Bruce Lee’s emergence as a martial-arts superstar after his legendary secret showdown with fellow martial artist Wong Jack Man. Stephen J. Rivele & Christopher Wilkinson (Ali, Nixon) have written the screenplay. Michael London (Sideways, The Illusionist, House of Sand and Fog) is producing the project with Janice Williams (Trumbo, Love the Coopers), James H. Pang, Leo Shi Young (Painted Skin), Rivele and Wilkinson.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the dramatic thriller Money Monster directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe. The film’s original score is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Free Birds) and produced by Henry Jackman. Sony Classical and Madison Gate Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Click here for the full album details. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Darkness directed by Greg McLean and starring Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh and Jennifer Morrison. Johnny Klimek (One Hour Photo, Sense8, Cloud Atlas, The International) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The Darkness (previously entitled 6 Miranda Drive) follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. ‘The Trust’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the crime dramedy The Trust. The album features the film’s original music composed by Reza Safinia (Filly Brown, Mercy). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 6, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The Trust is directed by Ben & Alex Brewer and stars Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood, Jerry Lewis and Sky Ferreira. The movie follows two corrupt cops of the Las Vegas Police Department who discover a high bail receipt in connection to a drug bust and set in motion a plan to find the source of the money. The crime thriller is now airing on DirecTV and will be released in select theaters and on VOD on May 13 by Saban Films.

Reza Safinia is composing the music for the upcoming dramatic comedy The Trust. The film is directed by Ben & Alex Brewer and stars Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood, Jerry Lewis and Sky Ferreira. The movie revolves around two corrupt cops of the Las Vegas Police Department who discover a high bail receipt in connection to a drug bust and set in motion a plan to find the source of the money. Ben Brewer has also written the screenplay with Adam Hirsch. Molly Hassell (Edmond, Jackie & Ryan, Vamps) and Braxton Pope (The Canyons, Shrink) are producing the project.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water directed by Paul Tibbitt and featuring the voices of Antonio Banderas, Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence and Douglas Lawrence. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack featuring five songs from the film. Visit Amazon to download the release. The movie’s original score is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf, Bruce Almighty). No word yet on a release of the composer’s music. Also opening wide is the sci-fi adventure Jupiter Ascending written and directed by Andy & Lana Wachowski and starring Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne and Douglas Booth. Michael Giacchino (Lost, Star Trek, Up, Ratatouille, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has composed the film’s original score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. ‘Enter the Dangerous Mind’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Enter the Dangerous Mind. The album features the film’s original score composed by Reza Safinia (Filly Brown, Mercy), as well as the original songs Broken Soul and In My Head by Safinia feat. Nothing But Thieves. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 10, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Enter the Dangerous Mind is directed by Youssef Delara & Victor Teran and stars Jake Hoffman, Nikki Reed, Thomas Dekker, Jason Priestly, Scott Bakula and Gina Rodriguez. The movie set in the underground world of dubstep DJ premiered under the title Snap at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival and will be released in select theaters and on VOD on February 6 by Variance Films.

‘Mercy’ Soundtrack Released

Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album for the supernatural thriller Mercy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Reza Safinia (Filly Brown). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Mercy is directed by Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) and stars Dylan McDermott, Frances O’Connor, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight, Mark Duplass and Chris Browning. The movie is based on a short story by Stephen King and follows two mischievous young brothers who accompany their single mother to take care of their grandma in her remote and lonely house, which leads to the discovery of terrifying secrets about the grandma’s true nature.

Only one new movie is opening wide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action film Oblivion directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. The film’s score is composed by Anthony Gonzalez of M83 and Joseph Trapanese (TRON: Uprising, The Raid: Redemption). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as an original end titles song by M83 featuring Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfor earlier this week. The film’s original score is composed by John 5 & Griffin Boyce. Reza Safinia to Score ‘Mercy’

Reza Safinia has been hired to score the upcoming fantasy horror film Mercy. The movie directed by Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) is based on the short story Gramma by Stephen King about two young boys who go with their single mother to take care of their grandmother and discover that she’s a witch who made a pact with a dark force many years before. Frances O’Connor, Dylan McDermott, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight, Mark Duplass and Chris Browning are starring in the movie. Matt Greenberg (1408, Reign of Fire) has adapted the short story for the screen. Jason Blum (Insidious, Paranormal Activity) is producing the project through his Blumhouse Productions company, alongside McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola for Wonderhouse Sound and Vision.
