Bear McCreary revealed in a recent interview with Film Music Magazine that he is scoring the upcoming horror thriller Half to Death. The film is directed by Christopher Landon (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, screenwriter of Disturbia) and stars Jessica Rothe, Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken and Rachel Matthews. Landon also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Lobdell. The movie follows a woman who must solve the mystery of her own murder before her chances run out.

Nathan Whitehead to Score Akiva Goldsman’s ‘Stephanie’
Nathan Whitehead has signed on to score the upcoming horror thriller Stephanie. The film is directed by Akiva Goldsman (Winter’s Tale, screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend & The Da Vinci Code) and stars Frank Grillo, Anna Torv, Shree Crooks and Kenneth Choi. The movie follows an orphaned young girl with unworldly powers who is taken in by a man and woman who claim to be her parents. Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski have written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Visit) is producing the project for his Blumhouse Productions company, alongside Matt Kaplan (The Lazarus Effect) for Chapter One, as well as Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner) and Adrienne Biddle.

Nathan Whitehead is set score the upcoming horror thriller The Purge 3. The film is written and directed by James DeMonaco who previously helmed the first two installments in the series and stars Frank Grillo, Betty Gabriel, Edwin Hodge, Kyle Secor, Joseph Julian Soria, Liza Colón-Zayas, Mykelti Williamson and Elizabeth Mitchell. No plot details have been revealed yet. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Gift is producing the project with Sebastien Lemercier (White Bird in a Blizzard), alongside Michael Bay & Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last Ship) and Brad Fuller for their Platinum Dunes production company.

Nathan Whitehead has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming WE tv original series South of Hell. The show is executive produced by Eli Roth (Hostel, Hemlock Grove, Cabin Fever) & Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Whiplash) and stars Mena Suvari, Zachary Booth, Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker and Paulina Singer. The supernatural thriller is set in Savannah, GA and follows a reluctant exorcist for hire with her very own demon living inside of her. Roth has also directed the pilot episode.

Nathan Barr has been tapped to score the upcoming WE tv original series South of Hell. The show stars Mena Suvari, Zachary Booth, Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker and Paulina Singer. The supernatural thriller is set in Savannah, GA and follows a demon hunter whose power stems from within. Eli Roth who previously collaborated with Barr on such projects as Hostel, Cabin Fever and Hemlock Grove directed the pilot episode. He is also executive producing the series with Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Whiplash), James Manos, Jr. (Dexter, The Shield), Gerard Bocaccio, Stewart Till and Gene Stein are executive producing the Sonar Entertainment and Blumhouse Television production.
Johnny Klimek to Score ‘6 Miranda Drive’
Johnny Klimek is reteaming with director Greg Mclean on the upcoming thriller 6 Miranda Drive. The film stars Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, Jennifer Morrison, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry and Matt Walsh. The movie follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company alongside Matt Kaplan for Chapter One and Bianca Martino for Emu Creek Pictures. Klimek has previously collaborated with Mclean on the horror sequel Wolf Creek 2.
Ludwig Goransson Scoring Joe Carnahan’s ‘Stretch’
Ludwig Goransson is composing the score for the upcoming action comedy thriller Stretch. The film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, James Badge Dale and Ray Liotta. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck chauffeur who is looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back. Carnahan is also producing the project with Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge) for Blumhouse Pictures. Tracy Falco (Lions for Lambs) is executive producing. The director has previously collaborated with composers including Cliff Martinez (Narc), Clint Mansell (Smokin’ Aces), Alan Silvestri (The A-Team) and Marc Streitenfeld (The Grey).
Reza Safinia to Score ‘Mercy’
Reza Safinia has been hired to score the upcoming fantasy horror film Mercy. The movie directed by Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) is based on the short story Gramma by Stephen King about two young boys who go with their single mother to take care of their grandmother and discover that she’s a witch who made a pact with a dark force many years before. Frances O’Connor, Dylan McDermott, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight, Mark Duplass and Chris Browning are starring in the movie. Matt Greenberg (1408, Reign of Fire) has adapted the short story for the screen. Jason Blum (Insidious, Paranormal Activity) is producing the project through his Blumhouse Productions company, alongside McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola for Wonderhouse Sound and Vision.
