Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the dramatic thriller Money Monster directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe. The film’s original score is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Free Birds) and produced by Henry Jackman. Sony Classical and Madison Gate Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Click here for the full album details. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Darkness directed by Greg McLean and starring Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh and Jennifer Morrison. Johnny Klimek (One Hour Photo, Sense8, Cloud Atlas, The International) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The Darkness (previously entitled 6 Miranda Drive) follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. Mark Suozzo Scoring Whit Stillman’s ‘Love & Friendship’

Mark Suozzo is reuniting with director Whit Stillman on the upcoming period comedy Love & Friendship. The film is written and directed by Stillman and stars Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel, Emma Greenwell, Tom Bennett and Stephen Fry. The movie is based on an unpublished early novella by Jane Austen and follows Lady Susan Vernon as she visits the estate of her in-laws to wait out colorful rumors of her dalliances and to find husbands for herself and her daughter. Stillman is also producing the project with Katie Holly (Citadel) and Lauranne Bourrachot (A Prophet, Sleepless Night).

Mark Suozzo Scoring Whit Stillman’s ‘The Cosmopolitans’

Mark Suozzo has composed the music for the pilot of Amazon Studios’ dramatic comedy The Cosmopolitans. The show is created by Whit Stillman and stars Chloë Sevigny, Adam Brody, Carrie MacLemore, Dree Hemingway, Freddy Åsblom, Jordan Rountree and Adriano Giannini. The comedy follows a group of young American expats in contemporary Paris searching for love and friendship in a foreign city. Stilman has written the script and directed the pilot episode, which was shot on location in Paris and is also producing the project with Alex Corven. Joan Osborne’s cover of What Becomes of the Brokenhearted is the pilot’s opening titles song. Suozzo has previously collaborated with Stillman on numerous features including Barcelona, Metropolitan, The Last Days of Disco and most recently, Damsels in Distress.

Two movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the comedy American Reunion directed by Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg and starring Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Eugene Levy, Tara Reid, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jennifer Coolidge and Mena Suvari. The film’s score is written by Lyle Workman (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad). Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring two tracks from the composer’s score, as well as the film’s songs by artists including Good Charlotte, Spice Girls, Boyz II Men and Montell Jordan. Already in theaters since Wednesday is James Cameron’s Titanic 3D starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The film’s Academy Award-winning music is composed by James Horner. Sony Classical has released a new 4-disc anniversary soundtrack edition featuring a newly-remastered version of the original soundtrack, the album Back to Titanic, as well as a disc of period music recorded for the movie by I Salonisti – the five-piece quintet that appears in the film and a new compilation of songs from the early 1900s. ‘Damsels in Distress’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the indie comedy Damsels in Distress. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Mark Suozzo (American Splendor, The Nanny Diaries) and Adam Schlesinger (Music & Lyrics), as well as a number of songs featured in the film. The soundtrack will be released on April 10, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album after the jump. Damsels in Distress is written and directed by Whit Stillman and stars Greta Gerwig, Adam Brody, Analeigh Tipton, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Carrie MacLemore and Hugo Becker. The comedy about a trio of beautiful girls who set out to revolutionize life at a grungy American university by helping severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select cities on April 6 by Sony Pictures Classics.

Mark Suozzo has recently recorded his score for the indie comedy Damsels in Distress. The movie written and directed by Whit Stillman stars Greta Gerwig, Adam Brody, Analeigh Tipton, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Carrie MacLemore and Hugo Becker. In the film, a trio of beautiful girls set out to revolutionize life at a grungy American university by helping severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers. Adam Schlesinger (Music and Lyrics) is also contributing music to the project and is producing a number of songs for the film. Stillman is producing the comedy with Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer (Friends with Benefits, Faster).
