Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Cube, Them, The Terror: Infamy, In the Tall Grass) is scoring the new Epix original series Billy the Kid. The show is written by Michael Hirst (Vikings, The Tudors) and stars Tom Blyth and Daniel Webber. The adventure drama is based on the life of famous titular American outlaw, aka William H. Bonney , from his humble Irish roots, to his early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier, to his pivotal role in the Lincoln County War and beyond.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (November 26, 2021)
Three new movies have opened in theaters nationwide this past Wednesday:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Encanto directed by Byron Howard & Jared Bush and starring Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero,Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Rhenzy Feliz, Mauro Castillo and Carolina Gaitan. The film’s original score is composed by Germaine Franco (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Dope, Tag, Little) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana, Hamilton, In the Heights) has written the movie’s original songs. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score last Friday and a CD version will be coming out next month. Also opening wide is the biographical crime drama House of Gucci directed by Ridley Scott and starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Reeve Carney, Jack Huston, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Mulan, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire, The Town) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records & Decca Records are set to release a soundtrack album according to the movie’s end credits, but no announcement has been made yet. Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Cube, Them, The Terror: Infamy, In the Tall Grass) is the composer of the upcoming Epix original series Chapelwaite. The show is developed by Peter Filardi (Flatliners, The Craft) & Jason Filardi (Bringing Down the House, 17 Again) based on the short story Jerusalem’s Lot by Stephen King and stars Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire. The horror drama is set in the 1850 and follows a man who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in Maine after his wife dies at sea and will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history.
Soundtrack Album for Amazon Series ‘Them’ to Be Released
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Amazon horror anthology series Them. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Cube, The Terror: Infamy, In the Tall Grass). Also included are four songs performed by The Watts Wonders. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 9 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Them is created by Little Marvin and stars Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, Alison Pill, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Melody Hurd and Ryan Kwanten. The first season of the series is set in the 1950s and follows a Black family who move from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood, when their idyllic home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.

Premiering in the U.S. today is the Norwegian mini-series Atlantic Crossing written by Alexander Eik & Linda May Kallestein, directed by Eik and starring Sofia Helin, Kyle MacLachlan and Tobias Santelmann. The show’s original music is composed by Raymond Enoksen (Haunted, Ice Road Rescue). Dreamscore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year when the 8-part drama premiered overseas. Also premiering tonight is the Fox TV special Malika the Lion Queen directed by Karin Slater and narrated by Angela Bassett. Jasha Klebe (Planet Earth II, The Black Godfather, Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom, Medal of Honor, Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes) has composed the original music for the special. The documentary, which follows a powerful pride of lions in South Africa’s Kruger National Park and explores the exhilarating and harrowing life of lioness Malika, will air on Fox tonight.
