John Swihart has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Table 19. The film is directed by Jeffrey Blitz (Rocket Science) and stars Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori, June Squibb, Wyatt Russell and Amanda Crew. The movie follows a group of strangers who are marooned at the misfits table at a destination wedding. Mark & Jay Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home, Togetherness) have written the screenplay. Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night, Cheaper by the Dozen) is producing the project for his 21 Laps Entertainment company, alongside Tom McNulty (The Spectacular Now, The Rocker) and Mark Roberts (In a World…).

John Swihart to Score ‘First Girl I Loved’
John Swihart revealed in a recent interview with Geektown Radio that is reuniting with director Kerem Sanga on the upcoming indie romantic dramedy First Girl I Loved. The film is written and directed by Sanga and stars Dylan Gelula, Brianna Hildebrand, Mateo Arias, Pamela Adlon, Tim Heidecker, Erik Griffin and Cameron Esposito. The movie centers on the relationship of a sarcastic, closeted teenager and a classmate who’s suddenly unsure of her own orientation. Dave Hunter & Ross Putman are producing the project with Seth Caplan (In Search of a Midnight Kiss, The Last Survivors).
‘Staten Island Summer’ Score Album Details
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Staten Island Summer. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Swihart (Napoleon Dynamite, How I Met Your Mother, New in Town). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 21, 2015. Staten Island Summer is directed by Rhys Thomas and stars Graham Phillips, Zack Pearlman, Ashley Greene, Kate Walsh, Jim Gaffigan and Gina Gershon. The movie follows two friends who spend the summer after high school graduation as poolside lifeguard.

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action comedy Pixels directed by Chris Columbus and starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Brian Cox. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Big Hero 6, X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph). Also opening wide is the boxing drama Southpaw directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Naomie Harris, Oona Laurence and Rita Ora. James Horner (Avatar, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind) composed his last film score for the film, which is also dedicated to the composer. Expected to top the weekend box office is the second part in the Divergent series, Insurgent directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet. Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Earth to Echo) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as M83 feat. Haim, Imagine Dragons, Royal Blood, Woodkid feat. Lykke Li, Anna Calvi, SOHN and Zella Day, as well as a score suite. Click here for the full details. John Swihart to Score ‘A Light Beneath Their Feet’
John Swihart has been tapped to score the upcoming indie coming-of-age dramedy A Light Beneath Their Feet. The film is directed by Valerie Weiss and stars Taryn Manning, Madison Davenport, Kurt Fuller, Maddie Hasson and Kali Hawk. The movie follows a high school senior who must choose between the college of her dreams and taking care of her mother living with bipolar disorder. Moira McMahon Leeper wrote the screenplay. Rob Johnson is producing the project and Jeffrey Loeb is executive producing. Swihart has previously collaborated with Weiss on the 2011 comedy Losing Control.

Premiering tonight is the new Fox comedy Mulaney produced by Lorne Michaels (30 Rock) and created by John Mulaney who also stars in the series alongside Seaton Smith, Nasim Pedrad, Martin Short, Elliott Gould and Zack Pearlman. The show’s original score is composed by Matter Music (The New Adventures of Old Christine, Better with You, Friend with Benefits). Mulaney follows a 29-year old rising stand-up comic who is trying to take his career to the next level. The comedy will air every Sunday night on Fox. Premiering on Tuesday, October 7, is the new CW superhero drama The Flash based on the DC Comic and starring Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Kavanagh, Danielle Panabaker, Rick Cosnett and Carlos Valdes. The show’s original music is composed by Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Resurrection, The Pacific, Life as We Know It) who is also scoring the network’s Arrow, which is returning for a third season. John Swihart to Score ABC’s ‘Cristela’
John Swihart has been hired to score the upcoming ABC comedy Cristela. The show is created by Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing) and stand-up comedienne Cristela Alonzo who also stars in the series alongside Carlos Ponce, Terri Hoyos, Andrew Leeds, Sam McMurray. The comedy follows an American Latina law student who hopes to land a prestigious law firm internship as her mother hectors her about getting a real job, her brother-in-law encourages her to move out and her sister runs low on patience. Hench and Alonzo are also executive producing the 20th Century Fox TV and 21 Laps-Adelstein production with Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night), Becky Clements (Last Man Standing) and Marty Adelstein (Hanna, Prison Break).

Expected to top the weekend box office is the thriller Non-Stop directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Anson Mount, Michellle Dockery, Scott McNairy, Lupita Nyong’o and Corey Stoll. The film’s original music is composed by John Ottman (X2, The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) who previously scored the director’s features Unknown, Orphan and House of Wax. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally earlier this week and a CD version will be coming out on March 4.
