John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book, Elf, Hocus Pocus, The Greatest Showman) has been hired to score the upcoming Disney+ original movie Home Alone. The film is directed by Dan Mazer (I Give It a Year, Da Ali G Show) and stars Archie Yates, Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Ally Maki, Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, Aisling Bea, Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons and Mikey Day. No plot details have been announced yet for the family comedy, which is based on the Chris Columbus-directed and John Hughes-written and -produced 1990 hit feature of the same title scored by John Williams. Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell wrote the screenplay.

‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special. The album features the songs from the TV special, including The Perfect Gift written and performed by Joshua Bassett (featured in the trailer, which can be checked out after the jump), a sneak peek of Something in the Air, the first major musical number of the show’s second season, as well as tracks performed by cast members Sofia Wylie, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Julia Lester, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein,Dara Reneé, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders and Mark St. Cyr. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, November 20 and will be available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples.
Marcus Miller Scoring Reginald Hudlin’s Disney+ Movie ‘Safety’
Marcus Miller (Everybody Hates Chris, About Last Night, I Think I Love My Wife) has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Safety. The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin and stars Jay Reeves, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Corinne Foxx, Matthew Glave,Hunter Sansone, Amanda Warren, Miles Burris, Isaac Bell, Elijah Bell and James Badge Dale. The drama tells the true story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey, a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Nick Santora (Scorpion, The Fugitive) wrote the screenplay.

Premiering tonight is the Showtime docu-series The Reagans directed and executive produced by Matt Tyrnauer about the rise and reign of America’s ultimate power couple, Ronald & Nancy Reagan. The show’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, His Dark Materials, The Crown, Home, Bad Boys for Life) who previously scored Tyrnauer’s features Studio 54 and Where’s My Roy Cohn?. Premiering on Wednesday, November 18, is the documentary Crazy, Not Insane directed and produced by Alex Gibney about Dr. Dorothy Otnow Lewis, a psychiatrist who has dedicated her career to studying murderers and seeking answers as to why people kill. Will Bates (Unbelievable, Away, I Origins, The Magicians, The Looming Tower, Nightflyers) who has previously scored numerous of Gibney’s documentaries has composed the film’s original music. The movie, which premiered at this year’s Copenhagen International Documentary Festival and also screened at the 2020 Venice Film Festival will debut in the U.S. exclusively on HBO and HBO Max.
Rachel Portman Scoring Disney+ Movie ‘Godmothered’
Rachel Portman (Emma, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, Never Let Me Go, The Manchurian Candidate) has recently scored the upcoming Disney+ original movie Godmothered. The film is directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Bridget Jones’s Baby) and stars Isla Fisher, Jillian Bell, Jane Curtin, Jillian Shea Spaeder, Willa Skye, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Santiago Cabrera, Artemis Pebdani, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Stephnie Weir, as well as June Squibb and Carlease Burke. The comedy revolves around a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers.
‘Clouds’ Score Album Details
Walt Disney Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Disney+ original movie Clouds. The album features the film’s original score composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me, Yellowstone, Avengers: Age of Ultron). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 6 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. Interscope Records has previously released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie, as well as a score suite last month. Clouds is directed by Justin Baldoni and stars Fin Argus, Sabrina Carpenter, Neve Campbell, Madison Iseman, Tom Everett Scott, Dylan Everett, Lil Rel Howery, Endicott Douglas and Summer H. Howell. The drama tells the true story of singer/songwriter Zach Sobiech, a 17-year-old student with raw musical talent living with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
Jake Monaco Scoring Lena Khan’s Disney+ Movie ‘Flora & Ulysses’
Jake Monaco (Dumplin’, Let’s Be Cops, Like a Boss, Out, Forky Asks a Question, Keeping Up with the Joneses) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Flora & Ulysses. The film is directed by Lena Khan (The Tiger Hunter) and stars Matilda Lawler, Alyson Hannigan, Ben Schwartz, Evans Ainsworth and Danny Pudi. The family drama is based on the children’s book Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures by Kate DiCamillo and tells the story of a 10-year-old avid comic book fan and a self-avowed cynic, who saves a squirrel she names Ulysses only to have its unique superhero powers wreak havoc.
Walt Disney Records to Release Two Soundtrack Albums for Pixar’s ‘Soul’
Walt Disney Records will release two soundtracks for Pixar’s animated feature Soul, including an album featuring the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winners Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Mank), as well as a separate album featuring the jazz compositions and arrangements by Jon Batiste who is best known for being the bandleader on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and also served as a cultural consultant for the movie. Laura Karpman to Score Marvel’s Disney+ Series ‘What If…?’
Variety is reporting that Laura Karpman (Lovecraft Country, Step, Set It Up, Why We Hate, Underground) has been tapped to score Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ animated series What If…?. The show is created by A.C. Bradley based on the Marvel Comics series of the same title and features the voices of Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher, as well as Michael B. Jordan, Sebastian Stan, Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Hayley Atwell, Karen Gillan, , Natalie Portman Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Neal McDonough, Dominic Cooper, Sean Gunn, Taika Waititi, Toby Jones, Djimon Hounsou, Jeff Goldblum and Michael Rooker who all reprise their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
‘Once Upon a Snowman’ Soundtrack Released
Walt Disney Records has released the original music from the new Disney+ animated short Once Upon a Snowman. The film’s full score composed Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover, The Muppets, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jeff Morrow (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Science Fair, Ibiza, Trolls Holiday) is now available to stream/download as a digital single on Amazon and other digital music stores. Once Upon a Snowman is directed by Trent Correy & Dan Abraham and stars Josh Gad who reprises his role as Olaf from the Frozen franchise and follows the character’s first steps as he comes to life and searches for his identity in the snowy mountains outside Arendelle.
