‘The Comedy’ Soundtrack Announced

Jagjaguwar will release a soundtrack for Rick Alverson’s The Comedy. The album features the film’s songs by artists including Here We Go Magic, Bill Fay, William Basinski, Gayngs, Amanaz and Donnie & Joe Emerson. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 24, 2012 and on vinyl on November 19. To pre-order the vinyl version, visit Amazon. The Comedy stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim (Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), as well as James Murphy, Kate Lyn Sheil, Alexia Rasmussen and Gregg Turkington. The movie centers on an aging hipster in Brooklyn, who spends his days bored and in aimless recreation with like-minded friends and they begin testing the limits of acceptable behavior. Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy thriller Seven Psychopaths. The album features the film’s original score composed by Carter Burwell (Fargo, Twilight) who previously worked with the director on his previous feature In Bruges. Also included are the film’s songs by artists including Hank Williams, P.P. Arnold, The Walkmen, Deer Tick, Josh T. Pearson and more. Seven Psychopaths features an all-star cast including Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson, Christopher Walken, Abbie Cornish, Tom Waits, Olga Kurylenko and Gabourey Sidibe. Marcelo Zarvos is currently scoring the romantic drama Look of Love. The film is directed by Arie Posin and stars Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Robin Williams, Amy Brenneman and Jess Weixler. The movie centers on a widow who meets a man looking exactly like her dead husband, and that connection rekindles old feelings. Posin has also co-written the screenplay with Matthew McDuffie. Julie Lynn (Mother and Child) and Bonnie Curtis (Albert Nobbs) are producing the Mockingbird Pictures production. Posin previously collaborated with composer James Horner on his first directorial effort, The Chumbscrubber. ‘Retreat’ Soundtrack Announced

Metropolis Music Group has set a US release of the soundtrack for the British thriller Retreat. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake). The score features the London Metropolitan Orchestra and Jack Liebeck on violin. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 16, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from the album after the jump. Retreat is directed by Carl Tibbetts and stars Jamie Bell, Cillian Murphy and Thandie Newton. The film follows three people isolated from the rest of the world on a remote island, who are told they are survivors of a fatal airborne disease that is sweeping over the entire world. A couple of new shows are premiering on the major networks this week:

Premiering on Wednesday, October 10 is the superhero drama Arrow based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Mark Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg and starring Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Susanna Thompson, Willa Holland and Colin Salmon. The show’s score is composed by Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Everwood, Brothers & Sisters). The composer recorded the music for the pilot with a full 80 piece orchestra at the Warner Bros. Decca Music will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama A Late Quartet. The album features the film’s music composed by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) and Beethoven’s Opus 131 performed by the Brentano String Quartet, which plays a key part in the film. Also included is an aria from Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s opera Die tote Stadt. The soundtrack will be released on November 6, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available below. A Late Quartet is directed by Yaron Zilberman and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, Mark Ivanir and Christopher Walken. The movie about a world-renowned string quartet struggling to stay together as they mark their 25th anniversary premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last month and is scheduled to be released in the US on November 2 by eOne Films. The details of the soundtrack album for the family adventure movie Astérix and Obélix: God Save Britannia (Astérix et Obélix: Au service de Sa Majesté) have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, Constantine) performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra, as well as additional music by Cyrille Aufort (Splice) and Christopher Carmichael (Seven Days in Utopia). Also included are two songs by BB Brunes and Travis Hawley’s I Wanna Go Now. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 15, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ‘Skyfall’ Soundtrack Details

Film Music Reporter has received the track list of the soundtrack album for Skyfall. The album for the 23rd James Bond movie features the film’s original music composed by Thomas Newman. As previously announced, Sony Classical will release the soundtrack overseas on October 29, 2012 and in the US on November 6. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Adele’s title song has been released yesterday and is now available to download here. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Taken 2 directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen and Rade Šerbedžija. The film’s music is composed by Nathaniel Mechaly who previously scored the 2008 original film. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by artists including Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws, Kasbah Rockers and College & Electric Youth has been released digitally earlier this week. Also opening wide is the stop-motion animated 3D film Frankenweenie directed by Tim Burton and featuring the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder. The film’s score is composed by Danny Elfman. Walt Disney Records has released two soundtracks, including an album featuring the composer’s score. Quartet Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the drama The Impossible (Lo Imposible). The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Fernando Velazquez (Devil) who previously scored director J.A. Bayona’s 2007 hit film The Orphanage. The music was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and performed by The London Metropolitan Orchestra & Kup Tadea Choir. The soundtrack is now available to order as an import on the label’s website, where you can also listen to audio clips from the score. The Impossible starring Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts and Tom Holland is based on the true story about a family caught in mayhem of the tsunami that hit the coast of Thailand in 2004.
