Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the thriller The Boy Next Door. The album features the film’s original music composed by Randy Edelman (xXx, Kindergarten Cop, Dragonheart, The Last of the Mohicans) and Nathan Barr (True Blood, Hostel, The Americans, Cabin Fever). Lisbeth Scott is features as a vocalist. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 20, 2015 and can be pre-ordered on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. A CD version is set to be released on February 17 by Varese Sarabande and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Boy Next Door is directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) and stars Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Guzman, John Corbett and Kristin Chenoweth. In addition to the nationwide expansion of Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper, three other new movies are opening across the country this week:
Opening in around 3300 theaters is the family movie Paddington written and directed by Paul King and starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Nicole Kidman, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington. The film’s original music is composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Focus). Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as songs from the film by James Brown, Steppenwolf and Lionel Richie. The U.S. version of the film also features the original song Shine by Pharrell Williams & Gwen Stefani, which can be checked out here.
Opening in roughly 3000 theaters is the comedy The Wedding Ringer directed by Jeremy Garelick and starring Kevin Hart, Josh Gad, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Ken Howard, Cloris Leachman, Jenifer Lewis, Mimi Rogers and Olivia Thirlby. Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Agent Carter, Identity Thief) has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as The Black Eyed Peas, Boyz II Men, Otis Redding, Todd Rundgren, Hal Jeffrin and Rancid earlier this week. ‘Strange Magic’ Soundtrack Announced

Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Strange Magic. The album features the songs from the film performed by the movie’s voice cast. Marius de Vries serves as the project’s musical director and has picked numerous popular songs from the past six decades. He also composed the original score for the Lucasfilm production. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 20, 2015. A physical version is set to be released on February 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
