Only one new movie is opening this weekend:

winter-soldierGuaranteed to top the weekend box office is Captain America: The Winter Soldier directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie and Robert Redford. The film’s music is composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as Marvin Gaye’s Trouble Man. Check out our previous article for the full album details. under-the-skinOpening in limited release is the Under the Skin directed by Jonathan Glazer, based on a novel by Michael Faber and starring Scarlett Johansson. Mica Levi from the experimental pop music band Micachu and the Shape has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Levi’s score earlier this week. imageStudiocanal will release a soundtrack album for the documentary African Safari 3D. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 14, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. African Safari 3D is directed by Ben Stassen who previously collaborated with Djawadi on such films as Fly Me to the Moon 3D and the two A Turtle’s Tale features. The documentary follows an expedition from the “Skeleton” coast in Namibia all the way to the top of Kiliminjaro. brian-tylerBrian Tyler has been hired to score the pilot of the upcoming Fox series Hieroglyph. The show is created by Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans) and stars Max Brown, Reece Ritchie, John Rhys-Davis, Condola Rashad, Antony Bunsee, Kelsey Chow and Caroline Ford. The adventure drama is set in ancient Egypt and follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh when a dangerous scroll is stolen from Egypt’s most secure vault. Beacham is also executive producing the Chernin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television production with Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Oblivion), Katherine Pope (New Girl, Touch) and Anna Fricke (Being Human). ‘Proxy’ Soundtrack Details

proxyScreamWorks Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Proxy. The album features the film’s original music composed by The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Life of Crime, Detachment). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Proxy is co-written and directed by Zack Parker and stars Joe Swanberg, Alexa Havins, Kristina Klebe and Alexia Rasmussen. The film follows a pregnant young woman who seeks consolation in a support group after she is viciously attacked by a hooded assailant and comes to realize that nothing and no one in her life is as it appears. galapagos-affairArt Farm West Records has announced a soundtrack release for the documentary The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden. The album features the film’s original music written by Emmy Award-winning composer Laura Karpman (Taken miniseries, Black Nativity). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. The Galapagos Affair is directed by Dayna Goldfine & Dan Geller and features voice performances of Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Connie Nielsen, Sebastian Koch, Thomas Kretschmann, Gustaf Skarsgård and Josh Radnor. muppets-most-wantedWalt Disney Records and Intrada Records will release a score album for Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Hangover, Red) who previously scored 2011’s The Muppets reboot. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is expected to be released by Intrada Records on the same date. A separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the film and a suite from Beck’s score has previously been released. Muppets Most Wanted directed by James Bobin and stars Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey, as well as the Muppets characters including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and The Great Gonzo. big-hero-6Henry Jackman has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature Big Hero 6. The action comedy adventure directed by Don Hall & Chris Williams (Bolt) is inspired by the Marvel comics of the same title. The movie follows a brilliant robotics prodigy who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. The Big Hero 6 characters first appeared in 1998 and Marvel later on released a series of six comics featuring the team in 2008. TJ Miller has recently been announced as part of the film’s voice cast. Roy Conli (Tangled, Treasure Planet) is producing the Walt Disney Animation Studios production and John Lasseter is executive producing the project. Read the rest of this entry »

rains-of-castamereWaterTower Music will release a new version of the song The Rains of Castamere from the HBO original series Game of Thrones. The show’s fourth season will feature a version of the song by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós. The track is written by the composer of the series, Ramin Djawadi and features lyrics by George R.R. Martin. The song will be released digitally on April 13, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out an audio clips from the track after the jump. jimmys-hallGeorge Fenton is reuniting with director Ken Loach on the upcoming drama Jimmy’s Hall. The movie stars Barry Ward in the title role, alongside Simone Kirby, Jim Norton, Brían O’Byrne and Andrew Scott. The movie is set  in 1932 and follows Irish communist leader James Gralton who returns from a decade in New York to re-open the dance hall he built in 1921. Paul Laverty has written the screenplay and Rebecca O’Brien who regularly works with Loach is producing the Sixteen Films, Element Pictures, Why Not Productions and Wild Bunch production. dernier-diamantSony Music will release a soundtrack album for Eric Barbier’s French thriller The Last Diamond (Le dernier diamant). The album features the film’s original music composed by Renaud Barbier who previously scored the director’s 2006 feature The Serpent. The soundtrack will be released in France on April 28, 2014. The Last Diamond starring Yvan Attal & Berenice Bejo tells a love story inspired by the legendary lost Florentine Diamond – a 137 carats gem, first documented in Renaissance times, which went missing in 1918.
