Dragon’s Domain Records has announced The Lalo Schifrin Collection – Volume 2, which includes two scores written by the Honorary Academy Award-winning composer of such films as Enter the Dragon, Dirty Harry, Bullit, Rush Hour & Cool Hand Luke, as well as the Mission: Impossible theme. The album features the world premiere release of Schifrin’s music from Marvin J. Chomsky’s 1984 action comedy Tank starring James Garner, Shirley Jones, Jenilee Harrison & C. Thomas Howell, as well as his (newly remastered) score for the 1979 British adventure comedy Escape to Athena directed by George P. Cosmatos and starring Roger Moore, Telly Savalas, David Niven, Claudia Cardinale, Stefanie Powers, Richard Roundtree, Sonny Bono & Elliott Gould (previously released on vinyl). World Premiere Release of Lalo Schifrin’s ‘Day of the Animals’ Score Announced
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced The Lalo Schifrin Collection, which includes four scores written the Honorary Academy Award-winning composer whose credits include Enter the Dragon, Bullit, Dirty Harry, Rush Hour & Cool Hand Luke, as well as the Mission: Impossible theme. The album features the world premiere release of Schifrin’s music from William Girdler’s 1977 horror film Day of the Animals starring Christopher George, Leslie Nielsen & Lynda Day George. Also included are the composers’ newly remastered scores (previously released by Label X) from Stuart Rosenman’s 1976 drama Voyage of the Damned (starring Faye Dunaway, Lee Grant, Oskar Werner, Max von Sydow & Malcolm McDowell), Richard Lester’s 1974 adventure sequel The Four Musketeers (starring Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain & Michael York) and John Sturges’ 1976 war drama The Eagle Has Landed (starring Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland & Robert Duvall). ‘The Competition’ Digital Soundtrack Album Released
Geffen Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1980 drama The Competition written and directed by Joel Oliansky and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Amy Irving, Lee Remick and Sam Wanamaker. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Honorary Academy Award winner Lalo Schifrin (Mission: Impossible, Bullit, Enter the Dragon, Dirty Harry, Rush Hour, Cool Hand Luke, The Amityville Horror), as well as the Academy Award-nominated original song People Alone written by Schifrin and featuring lyrics by Will Jennings. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. Lalo Schifrin (1932-2025)
Lalo Schifrin passed away today at age 93 of complications from pneumonia. The Grammy Award-winning Argentinian composer, best known his Mission: Impossible theme written for the 1960s TV series and used in the Tom Cruise-starring feature franchise, wrote numerous scores for film and television over a six decades-spanning career. He earned six Academy Award nominations for his scores for Stuart Rosenberg’s 1967 drama Cool Hand Luke, 1976 feature Voyage of the Damned & 1979 horror classic The Amityville Horror, Mark Rydell’s 1967 drama The Fox and Jeremy Paul Kagan’s 1983 comedy The Sting II and the original song People Alone from Joel Oliansky’s 1980 movie musical The Competition. He received an Honorary Oscar at the 10th Governors Awards in 2018.

Remastered ‘The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich’ & ‘Return from the River Kwai’ Soundtrack Albums Announced
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced two new soundtrack albums featuring classic scores composed by Honorary Academy Award winner Lalo Schifrin (Mission: Impossible, Enter the Dragon, Dirty Harry, Rush Hour, Bullit, Cool Hand Luke, The Amityville Horror). Making its CD debut is the composer’s (newly remastered) original score from the Emmy Award-nominated 1968 television documentary The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich directed by Jack Kaufman, performed by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Lawrence Foster. The album features the original music from the Walt Disney Pictures production composed by Lalo Schifrin (Mission: Impossible, Dirty Harry, Enter the Dragon, Rush Hour, Bullit). Lalo Schifrin Honored at Governors Awards
Yesterday, Lalo Schifrin was honored with an Honorary Academy Award at the 10th Governors Awards at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center. The composer whose scoring credits include Mission: Impossible, The Cincinnati Kid, Enter the Dragon, Cool Hand Luke, Bullit, The Amityville Horror and Rush Hour was introduced by actress Kathy Bates (who starred in Schifrin-scored The Bridge of San Rey) and Clint Eastwood who collaborated with Schifrin on eight movies including Dirty Harry, Sudden Impact and The Deal Pool. Lalo Schifrin to Receive Honorary Academy Award at 2018 Governors Awards
The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night (September 4) to present an Honorary Award to composer Lalo Schifrin. He will be honored at the Academy’s 10th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday, November 18, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center. Born and raised in Argentina, Schifrin studied classical music and jazz in France before beginning to compose for film in Buenos Aires in the mid-1950s. He has written scores for more than 100 films, including The Cincinnati Kid, Dirty Harry, Enter the Dragon and Rush Hour.

La-La Land Records has announced a soundtrack album for the 1988 Mission: Impossible revival series created by Bruce Geller and starring Peter Graves, Thaao Penghlis, Tony Hamilton, Phil Morris, Terry Markwell, Jane Badler and Bob Johnson. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Lalo Schifrin (Dirty Harry, Rush Hour, Enter the Dragon) who wrote the classic Mission: Impossible theme and Ron Jones (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Family Guy).
