Lucas Vidal has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Kidnapping Freddy Heineken. The film is directed by Daniel Alfredson (The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Jim Sturgess, Sam Worthington, Ryan Kwanten, Mark van Eeuwen and Tom Cocquerel. The movie chronicles the 1983 kidnapping of the grandson of the founder of the Heineken brewery and his driver who were released only after a ransom of 35 million Dutch guilders was paid. William Brookfield (Rough Magic, Close Your Eyes) has written the screenplay based on Peter R. de Vries’ bestselling book. Judy Cairo (Crazy Heart, Hysteria) and Michael A. ScreamWorks Records has released a soundtrack album for the zombie thriller The Returned. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jonathan Goldsmith (Away From Her, Take This Waltz, Casino Jack). The soundtrack is being released digitally this week. The movie dollows a young couple hiding a long-held secret in a post-zombie world, where the infected live normal lives but their retroviral drug is running out. The album features the film’s original score composed by Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Death Race) who previously collaborated with the movie’s director John Stockwell on such films as Into the Blue and Turistas. Christophe Beck has signed on to score the upcoming family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The movie is directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Youth in Revolt) and stars Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Megan Mulally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The movie is based on the 1972 illustrated children’s classic by Judith Viorst and follows a boy who has a very horrible day and finds out that other people can have them too. Rob Lieber has written the screenplay. Bruce Broughton’s Complete ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’ Score Released

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1985 mystery adventure Young Sherlock Holmes directed by Barry Levinson, written by Chris Columbus, presented by Steven Spielberg and starring Nicholas Rowe. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Lost in Space, Rescuers Down Under). The 2-CD set features the entire 90-minutes score, as well as several alternates and “extras”. The original 1986 soundtrack album only featured a little over half an hour of the composer’s score. Nathan Johnson is composing the score for the upcoming dramatic thriller Kill the Messenger. The film is directed by Michael Cuesta (Homeland, 12 and Holding) and stars Jeremy Renner as Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosemarie DeWitt, Andy Garcia, Oliver Platt, Michael Sheen, Paz Vega, Josh Close, Lucas Hedges, Tim Blake Nelson, Robert Patrick, Barry Pepper and Michael Kenneth Wiliams are co-starring. Universal Music will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black. The album features key tracks from the show, including the Grammy-nominated song You’ve Got Time by Regina Spektor which was specifically created for the show. Other artists included are Kelis, The Velvet Underground, Nico, Betty Davis, Latimore, The Staples Singers and more. The soundtrack will be released on May 13, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
