Bethsabée Mucho will release a soundtrack album for the French romance Quantum Love (Une rencontre). The album features the songs from the film by artists including Alexander, Stevie Wonder, Robbie Williams, Wax Tailor, Flight Facilities, Jocelyn Brown, Des’ree, Angus Stone, Rhye, Dream Koala and more. Two new movies opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the biblical epic Noah directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and Logan Lerman. Clint Mansell who previously scored all of the director’s features including Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Pi, Black Swan and The Wrestler has composed the film’s original music. Nonesuch Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score by the composer who collaborated with the Kronos Quartet on the project. Also included is the original song Mercy Is performed by Patti Smith. For the full album details, check out our previous article. Also opening wide is the action thriller Sabotage directed by David Ayer and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Olivia Williams, Mireille Enos, Sam Worthingtonq, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello, Max Martini and Josh Holloway. The film’s original score is composed by David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush) who previously collaborated with Sardy on 2012’s End of Watch. No soundtrack album has been announced. Sabotage follows an elite DEA task force that takes on the world’s deadliest drug cartels. The movie is being released by Open Road Films. Elia Cmiral has recently composed the score for the upcoming indie drama Any Day. The film is written and directed by Rustam Branaman and stars Sean Bean, Eva Longoria, Kate Walsh and Tom Arnold. The movie follows an ex-fighter who is transformed by the love and forgiveness he experiences through his 11-year-old nephew. Jeanette Zhou is producing the project for Jaguar Entertainment, alongside Darryl Marshak who is producing for The Marshak/Zachary Co. and Andrew Sugerman (Conviction, Undisputed) for Pantheon Entertainment. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the horror spoof sequel A Haunted House 2. The album features the original end title track Amped to 12 by Shinobi Ninja, written specifically for the film, as well as the hip hop and rock songs from the movie by Sean Harris & Saint Maurice, Dula & Khalifa feat. Khat, Mazen, Soundwell feat. Dula and Markie Jay, Tyler Thomas, G4SHI, The Upperclass Men and Venom feat. Chris Classic. Also included are two tracks from the film’s original score composed by Jesse Voccia. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Haunted House 2 is directed by Michael Tiddes and stars Marlon Wayans, Jaime Pressly, Essence Atkins, Gabriel Iglesias, Missi Pyle, Ashley Rickards, Affion Crockett and Cedric The Entertainer. The sequel follows Malcolm who, after exorcising the demons of his ex, is once again plagued by bizarre paranormal events after moving into his dream home with his girlfriend and her children. From EDM to Film Music: Junkie XL Conquers Hollywood

Over the last year, Junkie XL aka Tom Holkenborg has quickly risen to the top of the Hollywood film music scene. Just within the last eight months, the composer had his first three major Hollywood features released in theaters, including last summer’s thriller Paranoia starring Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford & Gary Oldman and this month’s two top-grossing movies at the domestic box office, 300: Rise of an Empire and Divergent; and he is currently in the process of composing the music for another high profile production to come out in 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road. Growing up in Holland in a family of multi-instrumentalists, the composer was in his teens when the first samplers became available to the general public in the early 80s. “That was the time period where I really got my feet wet with electronic music and I knew from that point on what my future would be,” the composer says. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Richard Ayoade’s indie comedy The Double. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Hewitt who previously collaborated with the director on 2010’s Submarine. Also included are the songs from the film by Japanese artists Kyu Sakamoto and Jacky Yoshikawa & His Blue Comets, as well as Danny & The Islanders.
