Paramount Pictures has released a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Selma. The album features the original song Glory performed by Common & John Legend, as well as songs by Otis Redding, Sister Gertrude Morgan, The Impressions, J.B. Lenoir, Fink, Ledisi, Martha Bass & more. Also included are three tracks from the film’s original score composed by Jason Moran. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Selma is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars David Oyelowo, Tom Wilkinson, Cuba Gooding Jr, Alessandro Nivola, Giovanni Ribisi, Common, Carmen Ejogo, Lorraine Toussaint, Tim Roth and Oprah Winfrey. The movie chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition.

Four new movies opened nationwide on Christmas Day:
Opening in most theaters is the drama Unbroken directed by Angelina Jolie and starring Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund and Finn Wittrock. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, The Grand Budapest Hotel). Parlophone Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as the original song Miracles performed by Coldplay. Also opening wide is the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Into the Woods directed by Rob Marshall and starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski and Johnny Depp. The movie features songs composed by Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd). Walt Disney Records has released two different soundtrack albums for the film featuring the songs performed by the movie’s cast. Jason Moran Scoring Ava DuVernay’s ‘Selma’
Jason Moran is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming biographical drama Selma in Seattle. The project marks the first scoring assignment of the jazz pianist who is also the artistic director for music at the Kennedy Center. Selma is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King Jr., Carmen Ejogo as Coretta Scott King and Tom Wilkinson as Lyndon Baines Johnson. Andre Holland, Tessa Thompson, Omar J. Dorsey and Colman Domingo are co-starring. The movie tells the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s struggle to secure voting rights for all people that culminated with a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and led to President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
