Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the superhero movie Shazam! directed by David F. Sandberg and starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (ItBlade Runner 2049Hidden Figures). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the horror thriller Pet Sematary directed by Kevin Kölsch & Dennis Widmyer and starring Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, John Lithgow. Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3HellraiserThe Exorcism of Emily RoseDrag Me to HellGhost Rider) has composed the film’s original music. Paramount Music has released soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as Starcrawler’s cover of the Ramones’ title song, which plays over the movie’s end credits. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album for the Pixar animated short Kitbull. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Jimenez. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Kitbull is directed by Rosana Sullivan, produced by Kathryn Hendrickson and centers on a fiercely independent stray kitten and an abused pit bull who form an unlikely friendship. The short, which is the third title in Pixar’s SparkShorts program opened at Disney’s El Capitan Theater in January and is now available to stream on YouTube. Milan Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Starz original series American Gods. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, Ozark, The Gift, Fear the Walking Dead, Enemy, Martha Marcy May Marlene). The soundtrack is already available digitally overseas and will be released in U.S. stores on April 12. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for Emilio Estevez’s drama The Public. The album features the film’s original score composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, John Wick, The Punisher, 300) & Joanne Higginbottom (Samurai Jack). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Public is written and directed by Estevez who also stars in the movie with Alec Baldwin, Emilio Estevez, Jena Malone, Taylor Schilling, Christian Slater, Gabrielle Union, Jacob Vargas, Michael K. Williams, Jeffrey Wright and Che “Rhymefest” Smith. The drama revolves around a sit-in by patrons at a public library that escalates into a police standoff and a media sideshow. Milan Records has released the first of three soundtrack albums for the National Geographic docu-series Hostile Planet. The show’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Shazam!, Blade Runner 2049, Hidden Figures, Annabelle Creation). The Vol. 1 album, entitled Mountains and Oceans, is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Two more albums, Grasslands and Jungles and Deserts and Polar, will be released on April 19 & May 3 respectively. Hostile Planet executive produced by Guillermo Navarro and hosted by Bear Grylls looks at animals surviving at the extremes of different environments, in mountains, oceans, grasslands, jungles, deserts, and polar regions. Decca Records has released eight digital soundtrack albums for the Netflix original docu-series Our Planet. The albums feature the original music from each of the eight episodes of the show composed by Steven Price (GravitySuicide SquadFuryBaby Driver, Attack the Block). Our Planet – The Complete Collection includes the scores for the episodes One Planet, Frozen Worlds, Jungles, Coastal Seas, Deserts and Grasslands, High SeasFreshwater and Forests (click on the episode title to download the individual soundtrack). As previously reported, the label has also released a 40-track album featuring highlights of the composer’s music from all episodes, as well as a song co-written by Price & Ellie Goulding. WaterTower Music will release the first full soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The album features a selections of songs from the show’s first season performed by the cast, as well as tracks by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Stray Cats, The Cramps, Sylvia Black, Valerie Broussard, Aquamarine & others. Also included is main title theme by composer Adam Taylor (The Handmaid’s Tale). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 5 and will be available to download here. The label has previously released a 4-track EP this past December. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa based on his comic book series and also stars Ross Lynch,  Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Richard Coyle and Bronson Pinchot.  Read the rest of this entry »

Soundtrack Album for Starz’s ‘Vida’ to Be Released

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Vida. The album features a selection of songs from the show by artists such as Digibich, María del Pilar, Kablito, FEM’d, Shamana Mama, SOPHIA and Jarina De Marco. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 3, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Vida is created by Tanya Saracho and stars Melissa Barrera, Mishel Prada, Ser Anzoategui, Chelsea Rendon, Carlos Miranda and Maria Elena Laas. Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the drama The Best of Enemies. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Affair, The Good Shepherd, Enough Said). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 5 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Best of Enemies is written and directed by Robin Bissell and stars Taraji P. Henson, Sam Rockwell, Babou Ceesay, Anne Heche, Wes Bentley, Nick Searcy, John Gallagher Jr. and Bruce McGill. The movie tells the true story of the unlikely relationship an outspoken civil rights activist and a local Ku Klux Klan leader who reluctantly co-chaired a community summit, battling over the desegregation of schools in Durham, North Carolina during the racially-charged summer of 1971. Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Noah, The Fountain, Moon) confirmed in a recent interview with The 405 that he will reteam with director Ben Wheatley on the upcoming gothic thriller Rebecca. The film, which has Lily James & Armie Hammer attached to star, is based on Daphne du Maurier’s classic gothic novel and follows a newly-married young woman who, on arriving at her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, finds herself battling the shadow of his dead first wife. Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) wrote the screenplay.
