Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album for the documentary The Elephant Queen. The album features the film’s original music composed by Golden Globe nominee Alex Heffes (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, The Last King of Scotland, Queen of Katwe, Touching the Void, 11/22/63). The soundtrack is now available to stream and download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Elephant Queen is directed by Mark Deeble & Victoria Stone and narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor. The movie follows a majestic female elephant as sheleads her herd in search of a new place to call home.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (October 18, 2019)
Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Maleficent: Mistress of Evil directed by Joachim Rønning and starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sam Riley, Ed Skrein, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. The film’s original music is composed Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Disturbia, Christopher Robin). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as an original song performed by Bebe Rexha. Click here for the full album details.
Also opening wide is the horror comedy Zombieland: Double Tap directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch and Luke Wilson. David Sardy (21, End of Watch, Bright, Premium Rush) who has composed the music for the 2009 original movie has composed the sequel’s original score. Alex Heffes Scoring Peter Webber’s ‘Pickpockets’
Alex Heffes has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Pickpockets (Carteristas). The movie marks director Peter Webber’s first Spanish-language feature and stars Carlos Bardem, Emiliano Pernia, Marcela Mar, Natalia Reyes and Duban Prado. The movie is set in the capital of Bogota and revolves around 16-year old street urchin who, together with two pals, learns the art of pickpocketing from a master in the sleight of hand. Gael Nouaille (Return to Ithaca) is producing the project for Full House.
