‘Pickpockets’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Columbian drama Pickpockets. The album features the film’s original music composed by Golden Globe nominee Alex Heffes (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, The Last King of Scotland, Roots, 11.22.63, Touching the Void, State of Play). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 18, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Pickpockets is directed by Peter Webber (The Girl with the Pearl Earring) and stars Carlos Bardem, Natalia Reyes and Emiliano Pernia. The movie follows a group of teen thieves who learn what it takes to be successful pickpockets on the streets of Bogotá from a master in the art of trickery and deception.

Alex Heffes has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Pickpockets (Carteristas). The movie marks director Peter Webber’s first Spanish-language feature and stars Carlos Bardem, Emiliano Pernia, Marcela Mar, Natalia Reyes and Duban Prado. The movie is set in the capital of Bogota and revolves around 16-year old street urchin who, together with two pals, learns the art of pickpocketing from a master in the sleight of hand. Gael Nouaille (Return to Ithaca) is producing the project for Full House.

Edsel/Demon Records will release a soundtrack album for BBC Earth’s documentary Earth: One Amazing Day. Alex Heffes is reteaming with director Peter Webber on the upcoming documentary Earth: One Amazing Day. The film directed by Webber (The Girl With The Pearl Earring, Hannibal Rising) & Richard Dale (The Human Body) is the sequel to 2007’s hit movie Earth (scored by George Fenton) and tells the story of one day in the life of the planet, “celebrating the billions of real-life dramas that occur in the natural world every day”. Robert Redford is narrating the English-langue version of the film, while Jackie Chan will narrate the Mandarin version.
Christian Henson Scoring ITV’s ‘Tutankhamun’
Christian Henson has previously recorded his score for the upcoming ITV mini-series Tutankhamun. The drama is directed by Peter Webber (The Girl with the Pearl Earring, Emperor, Hannibal Rising) and stars Max Irons and Sam Neill. The 4-parter tells the story of Howard Carter’s discovery of the tomb of one of Ancient Egypt’s forgotten pharaohs, the boy-king Tutankhamun. Guy Burt (Jekyll and Hyde, The Bletchley Circle, The Borgias) has written the scripts for all four parts. Francis Hopkinson (Home Fires,) and Catherine Oldfield (Foyle’s War) are executive producing the ITV Studios production and Simon Lewis (The C Word, The Paradise) is producing the project.

Emperor directed by Peter Webber and starring Matthew Fox, Tommy Lee Jones and Eriko Hatsune is set in post-World War II during the American occupation of Japan. The drama follows an American general who is tasked with deciding if Emperor Hirohito will be hanged as a war criminal. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released on March 8, 2013 by Roadside Attractions.

The film is directed by Peter Webber (The Girl with the Pearl Earring) and stars Matthew Fox and Tommy Lee Jones, as well as Japanese actors Eriko Hatsune and Toshiyuki Nishida. The movie is set in post-World War II during the American occupation of Japan and is based on the real-life story of whether Emperor Hirohito be tried and hanged as a war criminal. Yoko Narahashi (The Last Samurai), Gary Foster (Daredevil), Russ Krasnoff (The Soloist) and Eugene Nomura are producing the Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment and United Performer’s Studio Production. Emperor is currently in post-production.
Alexandre Desplat to Score Peter Webber’s ‘Emperor’
Director Peter Webber has announced on Twitter (via The Film Stage) that Alexandre Desplat is attached to score the upcoming political thriller Emperor. The movie starring Matthew Fox and Tommy Lee Jones is set in Japan amidst the uncertainties of the days following the nation’s surrender at the end of World War II, when General Douglas MacArthur as the Supreme Commander of the occupying forces and the leading Japanese expert on his staff are faced with the decision if Emperor Hirohito should be tried and hanged as a war criminal. David Klass (Walking Tall) and Vera Blasi are writing the screenplay based on the historic events. Yoko Narahashi (The Last Samurai), Gary Foster (Daredevil, Ghost Rider), Russ Krasnoff (The Soloist) and Eugene Nomura are producing. Desplat has previously collaborated with Webber on 2003’s The Girl with a Pearl Earring, for which the composer received his first Golden Globe nomination and which put him on the map in Hollywood.
