Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special. The album features the songs from the TV special, including The Perfect Gift written and performed by Joshua Bassett (featured in the trailer, which can be checked out after the jump), a sneak peek of Something in the Air, the first major musical number of the show’s second season, as well as tracks performed by cast members Sofia Wylie, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Julia Lester, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein,Dara Reneé, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders and Mark St. Cyr. This week, Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (Rocks, Only You, Tiger Orange) is recording her score for the upcoming Dutch historical drama The Forgotten Battle (De Slag om de Schelde). The film is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen (The Thing) and stars Gijs Blom, Susan Radder, Jamie Flatters and Tom Felton. The movie centers on the bloody but crucial battle (known as the Battle of the Scheldet) that claimed ten thousand lives during World War II, but secured supply lines for the Allied forces’ push to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The album features the movie’s original music written by Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and composer Branford Marsalis (The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Once in the Life). The soundtrack is set to be released digitally and physically on December 18, 2020 and is now available for pre-order here. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is directed by George C. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal, The Practice) based on the series of books by C.J. Box,  and stars Katheryn Winnick, Kylie Bunbury, Brian Geraghty, Dedee Pfeiffer, Natalie Alyn Lind, Jade Pettyjohn, Jesse James Keitel, Valerie Mahaffey, John Carroll Lynch and Ryan Phillippe. Deadline is reporting that Stew Stewart & Heidi Rodewald will compose the original songs and music for a movie musical about the breakthrough of the Pfizer miracle drug: Viagra. The currently untitled film will be directed by Spike Lee (Malcolm X, BlacKkKlansman, Do the Right Thing, Inside Man) who is also co-writing the screenplay with Kwame Kwei-Armah. The movie is based on the Esquire article All Rise: The Untold Story of The Guys Who Launched Viagra by David Kushner and is inspired by the true events surrounding around Pfizer’s discovery and launch of the erectile dysfunction drug.
