Marcus Miller (Everybody Hates Chris, About Last Night, I Think I Love My Wife) has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Safety. The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin and stars Jay Reeves, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Corinne Foxx, Matthew Glave,Hunter Sansone, Amanda Warren, Miles Burris, Isaac Bell, Elijah Bell and James Badge Dale. The drama tells the true story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey, a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Urban Republic Records has released a soundtrack album for the Swedish survival thriller Breaking Surface. The album features the film’s original music composed by Patrick Kirst (The Kissing Booth, Inherit the Viper, Grace Stirs Up Success, Convergence). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples, and will also be available in other digital music stores within the next few days. Breaking Surface is written and directed by Joachim Hedén and starring Moa Gammel, Madeleine Martin and Trine Wiggen. The movie is inspired by the real-life events surrounding Arizona based newspaper publisher Joseph Soldwedel and centers on the feud between a newspaper owner and the chief of police that leads to the blurring of the truth when the murder of a migrant worker shakes a southwest border town. Premiering tonight is the Showtime docu-series The Reagans directed and executive produced by Matt Tyrnauer about the rise and reign of America’s ultimate power couple, Ronald & Nancy Reagan. The show’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, His Dark Materials, The Crown, Home, Bad Boys for Life) who previously scored Tyrnauer’s features Studio 54 and Where’s My Roy Cohn?. Premiering on Wednesday, November 18, is the documentary Crazy, Not Insane directed and produced by Alex Gibney about Dr. Dorothy Otnow Lewis, a psychiatrist who has dedicated her career to studying murderers and seeking answers as to why people kill. Will Bates (Unbelievable, Away, I Origins, The Magicians, The Looming Tower, Nightflyers) who has previously scored numerous of Gibney’s documentaries has composed the film’s original music. The movie, which premiered at this year’s Copenhagen International Documentary Festival and also screened at the 2020 Venice Film Festival will debut in the U.S. exclusively on HBO and HBO Max. The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the horror comedy Freaky co-written and directed by Christopher Landon and starring Kathryn Newton, Vince Vaughn, Celeste O’Connor, Katie Finneran, Dana Drori, Misha Osherovich, Uriah Shelton and Alan Ruck. The film’s original music is composed by Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Happy Death Day, Outlander, Battlestar Galactica). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select theaters today is the comdedy The Climb co-written and directed by Michael Angelo Covino and starring Covino himself, alongside Kyle Marvin, Gayle Rankin, Talia Balsam, George Wendt and Judith Godréche. Jon Natchez & Martin Mabz have composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which follows two lifelong friends who are out for a bike ride through the mountains in the South of France when one of them confesses that he slept with the other’s fiancé premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being released stateside by Sony Pictures Classics.
