Republic Records, FOX and Paramount Television have announced a soundtrack album for the TV musical event Grease LIVE!. The album features the songs from the special originally written for the stage musical and the 1979 film by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, as well as two original tracks written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey and performed by Carly Rae Jepsen and DNCE and an original track written and performed by DNCE. The soundtrack will be available digitally on Sunday, January 31, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. The first song Grease (Is The Word) performed by the live cast and Jessie J is already available to download on Amazon. A CD version with four bonus tracks will be released exclusively in Target on March 4.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (January 24, 2016)
Premiering tonight is the revival mini-series of The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, as well as guest stars including Joel McHale, Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose. Mark Snow (Millennium, Smallville, Blue Bloods, Ghost Whisperer) who previously scored all episodes of the original series, as well as the two movie adaptations, returns as the composer of the 6-part series. Premiering tomorrow, January 25, is new Fox drama Lucifer based on the DC Comics characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth & Mike Dringenberg, developed by Tom Kapinos and starring Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro and Scarlett Estevez. The show’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (The Wolverine, Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) and Dennis Smith. Soundtrack Album for E!’s ‘The Royals’ Released
Astralwerks has released a soundtrack album for the E! original series The Royals. The album features a selection of songs from the show by artists including Wolf Alice, Nick Mulvey, Dustin Tebbutt, Gabrielle Aplin, Greylag, Charlotte OC, Brassonaut, Claire Wyndham, Banners, Kid Karate, Little May & more. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The Royals is created by Mark Schwahn and stars Elizabeth Hurley, William Moseley, Merritt Patterson, Alexandra Park, Jake Maskall, Tom Austen, Oliver Milburn Sophie Colquhoun and Vincent Regan. The show follows a modern-day monarch and head of a fictional British royal family living in the public eye.
‘Mr. Selfridge’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Sony Classical will release the first soundtrack album for the hit ITV/PBS period drama Mr. Selfridge. The album features selections of the original music from all four seasons of the show composed by Charlie Mole (An Ideal Husband, The Importance of Being Earnest, Dorian Gray, Dad’s Army). The soundtrack will be released on February 26, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mr. Selfridge is created by Andrew Davies and stars Jeremy Piven, Amanda Abbington, Gregory Fitoussi, Tom Goodman-Hill, Trystan Gravelle, Katherine Kelly, Aisling Loftus, Aidan McArdle and Frances O’Connor. The series is set in the early 1900s and centers on Harry Selfridge who arrives in London intent on building the world’s largest department store in the capital’s Oxford Street.
Lyle Workman Scoring Netflix’s ‘Love’
Lyle Workman is scoring the upcoming Netflix original series Love. The show is created by Judd Apatow (Trainwreck, Girls, Freaks and Geeks), Paul Rust (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday) and Lesley Arfin and stars Rust himself, Gillian Jacobs, Dave Allen, Steve Bannos, Chris Witaske and singer Chantal Claret. The comedy follows a nice guy and a brazen wild child as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. Apatow, Rust and Arfin are also executive producing the Legendary Television production with Brent Forrester (The Office).
FX’s ‘Baskets’ to Feature Music by Andrew Bird
Andrew Bird is composing the score for the new FX original series Baskets. The show is created by Louis C.K., Zach Galifianakis & Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia) and stars Galifianakis himself, alongside Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly, Sabina Sciubba and Ernest Adams. The comedy is set in Bakersfield, California and follows a man who sets out on becoming a professional clown. After failing to get a degree at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, he is stuck with a job at a local rodeo. Louis C.K., Galifianakis & Krisel are also executive producing the project with M. Blair Breard (Louie), Dave Becky (Master of None, Everybody Hates Chris), Marc Gurvitz (According to Jim) and Andrea Pett-Joseph.
Soundtrack for HBO’s ‘Vinyl’ Announced
Atlantic Records will release a soundtrack album for the HBO original series Vinyl. The album features selections of the songs from the first season of the show by artists including Ty Taylor, David Johansen, Kaleo, Otis Reeding, Ruth Brown, Foghat, Soda Machine, Dee Dee Warwick & more. Also included is the series’ title song Sugar Daddy by Sturgill Simpson. The soundtrack will be released on February 12, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Vinyl is created by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire), executive produced by Martin Scorsese and stars Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Ato Essandoh, P. J. Byrne, J. C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen and Paul Ben-Victor. The drama is set in 1970s New York and tells the story of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound.

Premiering tonight is the Showtime original series Billions created by Brian Koppelman & David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin and starring Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad. The show’s original music is composed by ESKMO aka Brenden Angelides. Also premiering tonight is the mini-series Mercy Street created by Lisa Q. Wolfinger & David Zabel and starring Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety, Norbert Leo Butz, AnnaSophia Robb and Cherry Jones. David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden King) has composed the music for the 6-parter, which follows the lives of two volunteer nurses on opposing sides of the Civil War. Charlie Clouser to Score TNT’s ‘Good Behavior’
Charlie Clouser has signed on to score the upcoming TNT original series Good Behavior. The show is created by Chad Hodge and author Blake Crouch and stars Michelle Dockery, Juan Diego Botto, Terry Kinney and Lusia Strus. The drama is based on Crouch’s Letty Dobesh novels and follows a thief and a con artist fresh out of prison who overhears a hitman being hired to kill a man’s wife and sets out to derail the job, launching her on a collision course with the killer. Hodge and Crouch are also executive producing the project with Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Hanna) and Becky Clements (Last Man Standing, Aquarius).
Harry Gregson-Williams Scoring HBO’s ‘Confirmation’
Harry Gregson-Williams is composing the music for the upcoming HBO original movie Confirmation. The film is directed by Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Wood) and stars Kerry Washington, Wendell Pierce, Greg Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Eric Stonestreet, Jennifer Hudson, Dylan Baker, Erika Christensen, Kimberly Elise, Malcolm Gets, Grace Gummer, Bill Irwin, Zoe Lister-Jones, Peter McRobbie, Treat Williams and Alison Wright. The drama details the 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearings and revisits the national debate over race relations and sexual harassment sparked during the hearings when law professor Anita Hill testified about her experiences with Thomas.
