Mark Snow passed away today at age 78 at his home in Connecticut. The composer, best known for his theme and score from the Fox mystery series The X-Files, wrote numerous scores for film and television over the last five decades. He earned six Emmy Award nominations for his music from The X-Files and received nine other Emmy nominations for the television movies Something About Amelia, The Last Capone, An American Story, Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, Helter Skelter, the miniseries Children of the Dust, as well as UPN’s Nowhere Man and CBS’ Ghost Whisperer. His other TV scoring credits include The WB’s Smallville & Birds of Prey, Fox’s Millennium, Harsh Realm & The Lone Gunmen and CBS’ Blue Bloods, which finished its series run last year.

‘The X-Files’ Volume 4 Soundtrack Album Details Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the Fox mystery drama The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The 4-CD set features previously unreleased music from the series composed by Emmy Award nominee Mark Snow (Millennium, Smallville, The New Mutants, La Femme Nikita, Blue Bloods). Among the episodes featured on the album are Apocrypha, Avatar, Never Again, Triangle, Invocation and Nothing Important Happened Today. Also included is the finale music from the second X-Files movie Fight the Future. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller The New Mutants directed by Josh Boone and starring Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga. The film’s original music is composed by (The X-Files, Millennium, La Femme Nikita, Crazy in Alabama, Smallville). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the comedy drama The Personal History of David Copperfield directed by and starring Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, Paul Whitehouse and Gwendoline Christie. Christopher Willis (The Death of Stalin, Veep, The Lion Guard, Mickey Mouse) has composed the film’s original music. MVKA has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the movie opened in the UK. ‘The New Mutants’ Soundtrack Details
Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller The New Mutants. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Snow (The X-Files, Millennium, Smallville). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 28 and will be available to stream/download here. The New Mutants is co-written and directed by Josh Boone and stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga. The Marvel Entertainment production is set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring and follows the title characters as they have to battle to try and make it out alive when strange occurrences begin to take place.

The film is directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) and stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga. The horror thriller is set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive. Boone also co-wrote the screenplay with Knate Lee (Kidnap). Simon Kinberg (The Martian, Cinderella), Karen Rosenfelt (The Twilight Saga) and Lauren Shuler Donner (Logan, Deadpool) are producing the project.

La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the Fox mystery drama The X-Files. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s eleventh and final season composed by Emmy Award nominee Mark Snow (Smallville, Millennium, Blue Bloods, Disturbing Behavior). The 2-CD set is limited to 3,000 copies and will be available to order later today on the label’s official website. La-La Land Records has previously several soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music from the first nine seasons, as well as Season 10. Season 11 of The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.

The 2-CD set will be released next Tuesday, April 25 and will be available to order on the label’s official website. Premiering tonight is the revival mini-series of The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, as well as guest stars including Joel McHale, Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose. Mark Snow (Millennium, Smallville, Blue Bloods, Ghost Whisperer) who previously scored all episodes of the original series, as well as the two movie adaptations, returns as the composer of the 6-part series. Premiering tomorrow, January 25, is new Fox drama Lucifer based on the DC Comics characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth & Mike Dringenberg, developed by Tom Kapinos and starring Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro and Scarlett Estevez. The show’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (The Wolverine, Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) and Dennis Smith. La-La Land Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Fox series Millennium created by Chris Carter and starring Lance Henriksen, Megan Gallagher and Terry O’Quinn. The 2-CD set features more selections of the show’s original score composed by Mark Snow (The X-Files, The Lone Gunman, Elementary). The Vol. 2 soundtrack is limited to 2000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio clips. La-La Land Records has also reissued the Vol. 1 soundtrack album, which features the same content as the previously sold-out 2008 release.
Expanded ‘The X-Files: Fight the Future’ Soundtrack Announced
La-La Land Records will release an expanded and remastered soundtrack album for the 1998 feature The X-Files: Fight the Future written by Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz, directed by Rob Bowman and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Snow (Millennium, Blue Bloods, Elementary) who also scored the complete The X-Files series. The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2014 and will be available on the label’s official website.
