Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller The New Mutants directed by Josh Boone and starring Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga. The film’s original music is composed by (The X-FilesMillennium, La Femme Nikita, Crazy in Alabama, Smallville). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the comedy drama The Personal History of David Copperfield directed by and starring Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, Paul Whitehouse and Gwendoline Christie. Christopher Willis (The Death of StalinVeepThe Lion GuardMickey Mouse) has composed the film’s original music. MVKA has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the movie opened in the UK. Opening in theaters nationwide and on PVOD today is the sci-fi comedy Bill & Ted Face the Music directed by Dean Parisot and starring Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Kid Cudi, Kristen Schaal and William Sadler. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (A River Runs Through It, CrashThe AccountantOnce Upon a Time, Little Fires Everywhere). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the full album details) and TenThousand Projects has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie by artists such as Weezer,  Big Black Delta, Mastodon, Cold War Kids,  Wyld Stallyns & others (click here for the full details).

Opening in select theaters is the Chinese war drama The Eight Hundred directed by Guan Hu and starring Yi Zhang, Chen Yao, Augusta Xu-Holland and Haoming Yu. Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, AquamanHacksaw RidgeAbominable) has composed the main theme for the film and Andrew Kawczynski (The Amazing Spider-Man 2Sky HunterThe Corrupted) has written the movie’s original score. Opening in limited release and also coming out on PVOD is the faith-based drama Fatima directed by Marco Pontecorvo and starring Joaquim de Almeida, Goran Višnjić, Stephanie Gil, Lúcia Moniz, Sônia Braga and Harvey Keitel. The film’s original music is composed by Paolo Buonvino (Fathers & DaughtersMedici, Romanzo Criminale). Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as an original song written by Buonvino and performed by Andrea Bocelli. Opening on VOD today before coming out on Blu-ray and DVD next Tuesday is the action thriller Rogue co-written and directed by M.J. Bassett and starring Megan Fox, Philip Winchester, Jessica Sutton, Calli Taylor, Brandon Auret, Adam Deacon and Sisanda Henna. Scott Shields (Strike Back, Waking the Dead) & Jack Halama (Traces) have composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The movie, which follows a battle-hardened mercenary in the wilds of Africa whose team must survive against a gang of murderous rebels and a pack of bloodthirsty lions they encounter, is being released by Lionsgate.
