The Television Academy has revealed more details about their first TV music concert, which was originally announced earlier this year. SCORE! A Concert Celebrating Music Composed for Television will take place on Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by Jon Burlingame and will feature original scores from over 50 television series performed by a 67 piece orchestra and the 40 voice LA Chorus directed by Steve Lively. 15-times Emmy Award nominee Mark Snow (The X-Files, Millennium) will be honored with a Career Achievement Award presented by the Television Academy’s Music Peer Group. Among the composers who will be conducting their own scores at the concert will be Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome), Sean Callery (24, Homeland, Elementary), Alf Clausen (The Simpsons), Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones), James S. Levine Glee, American Horror Story), John Lunn (Downton Abbey), Bear McCreary (Da Vinci’s Demons, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Walking Dead), Wendy Melvoin & Lisa Coleman (Heroes, Nurse Jackie), Trevor Morris (Vikings, The Borgias, The Tudors), Walter Murphy (Family Guy) and career achievement honoree Mark Snow.

‘The X-Files’ Volume 2 Soundtrack Box Set Released
La-La Land Records has released a new 4-CD box set for the hit mystery series The X-Files. The release includes selections from the show’s original score from all nine seasons composed by Mark Snow, for a total of more than 5 hours of music. The set is limited to 3000 copies and also features a 40-Page CD booklet containing comments from show creator Chris Carter and writer/producers Frank Spotnitz, Glen Morgan and James Wong. The soundtrack is now available to order on La-La Land Records’ website, where you can also listen to audio clips and check out the full track list. The label has previously released another box set featuring the show’s score back in 2011. Click here for the full details. ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album for Alain Resnais’ drama You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet (Vous n’avez encore rien vu) has been released overseas earlier this week. The album features the film’s original score written by Emmy-nominated composer Mark Snow (The X-Files, Smallville). To listen to audio clips, visit the French Amazon store. You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet marks Snow’s third collaboration with Resnais following Provate Fears in Public Places and Wild Grass. The French/German production stars Mathieu Amalric, Sabine Azéma, Anne Consigny and Lambert Wilson. The film follows a celebrated playwright who gathers together all his friends who have appeared over the years in his play Eurydice to watch a recording of the work performed by a young acting company. The movie premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and has just been released in France on September 26.
New Limited ‘Smallville’ Soundtrack Edition Released
La-La Land Records has released a new limited soundtrack album for the superhero TV series Smallville starring Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk. The album features selections from the show’s score from the first six seasons composed by Mark Snow (The X-Files) and from the final four seasons composed by Louis Febre (Swimfan). The 2-CD set includes the 2010 soundtrack download-only release, as well as a second disc featuring over 70 minutes of previously unreleased music from the show. Among the new shows on the network is the fantasy teen drama The Secret Circle produced by Kevin Williamson (Scream, The Vampire Diaries) and starring Brittany Robertson, Thomas Dekker, Shelley Hennig, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Louis Hunter, Natasha Henstridge and Ashley Crow. The composer of the show is John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space) who has worked with Williamson before on the writer’s directorial debut Teaching Mrs. Tingle. The Secret Cirlce has received a full season order and currently airs every Thursday night on the CW.
‘Smallville’ Score Album released
WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack for the CW show Smallville. The album includes selections from the show’s original score by Mark Snow and Louis Febre. Snow was the composer on the project during its first six seasons, while Febre scored the last four seasons. The soundtrack featuring almost 70 minutes of music is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips from each track after the jump. Smallville created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar is about to air its 2-hour series finale this Friday on the CW. The show, which followed Clark Kent’s adventures during the years before he becomes Superman stars Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack and John Glover.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch starring Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, Carla Gugino and Jon Hamm features music by Tyler Bates and Marius DeVries. A soundtrack with songs from the movie has been released this week by Watertower Music. To listen to audio clips and download the album, visit Amazon and iTunes. Also opening wide is the family comedy Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules starring Zachary Gordon, Rachael Harris and Steve Zahn. The film’s music is composed by Edward Shearmur (visit our article on the scoring assignment). No soundtrack release has been announced. Theodore Shapiro’s score for the first part was released a couple of months after the film’s release, which makes it seem possible that a soundtrack release for the sequel will be coming out later this year.
