Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Red Tails) is the composer of the new HBO original series Perry Mason. The show is developed by Ron Fitzgerald & Rolin Jones based on characters from Erle Stanley Gardner’s novels and stars Matthew Rhys, John Lithgow, Juliet Rylance, Tatiana Maslany, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcón, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard, Eric Lange and Robert Patrick. The drama is set in 1932 Los Angeles and centers on a low-rent private investigator who is living check-to-check and is haunted by his wartime experiences in France and suffering the effects of a broken marriage.

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original film Da 5 Bloods. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Inside Man, Red Tails). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, May 29 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. National Geographic, with Fox 21 Studios and Imagine Television Studios, announced today that Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, Malcolm X) is set to score the upcoming National Geographic original series Genius: Aretha. Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, Step) has been tapped to serve as an executive music producer and will be responsible for producing, arranging and recording all of the original song elements within the series featuring live performances. The biographical drama stars Cynthia Erivo in the title role of Aretha Franklin, as well as Courtney B. Vance, Malcolm Barrett, David Cross, Pauletta Washington, Patrice Covington, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Steven Norfleet, Omar J. Dorsey, Marque Richardson, Kimberly Hébert Gregory and Shaian Jordan.

The film is directed by Kirby Dick & Amy Ziering (The Invisible War, The Hunting Ground) and tells the story of music executive Drew Dixon (producer of hit records by 2Pac, Method Man and Mary J. Blige), whose career and personal life have been deeply affected by the abuse she faced from the men she admired in the industry she loves.
