Hollywood Records has announced a soundtrack EP for the National Geographic limited series Genius: MLK/X. The 6-track EP features six original songs written for the show and performed by Jacob Banks, Rhiannon Giddens, Aloe Blacc, Fallon King and Felisha King Harvey. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 2 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to all six tracks below. Genius: MLK/X is developed by Jeff Stetson and stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Aaron Pierre, Jayme Lawson, Weruche Opia and Ron Cephas. Season 4 of the Genius anthology series explores how Dr. Martin Luther King’s Jr. and Malcolm X’s dueling philosophies helped usher America through the Civil Rights Movement. .

Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, The Woman King, Perry Mason, Inside Man, Da 5 Bloods, Red Tails) is returning to score the fourth season of the National Geographic original anthology series Genius. The new season, entitled Genius: MLK/X stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. & Aaron Pierre in the title roles, alongside Weruche Opia, Jayme Lawson and Ron Cephas. The drama focuses on two iconic geniuses – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X – and explores how their dueling philosophies helped usher America through the Civil Rights Movement.

Terence Blanchard to Score & Raphael Saadiq to Serve as Executive Music Producer on National Geographic’s ‘Genius: Aretha’
National Geographic, with Fox 21 Studios and Imagine Television Studios, announced today that Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, Malcolm X) is set to score the upcoming National Geographic original series Genius: Aretha. Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, Step) has been tapped to serve as an executive music producer and will be responsible for producing, arranging and recording all of the original song elements within the series featuring live performances. The biographical drama stars Cynthia Erivo in the title role of Aretha Franklin, as well as Courtney B. Vance, Malcolm Barrett, David Cross, Pauletta Washington, Patrice Covington, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Steven Norfleet, Omar J. Dorsey, Marque Richardson, Kimberly Hébert Gregory and Shaian Jordan.
‘Genius: Picasso’ Soundtrack Album Released
Milan Records has released the full soundtrack album for the National Geographic original series Genius. The album features selections of the show’s original music of the show’s second season composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Lego Batman Movie, The Crown, Pacific Rim Uprising, Terminator Genysis). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The label has previously released an EP featuring music from Season 2, as well as Balfe’s score from the first season. Season 2 of Genius is executive produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and stars Antonio Banderas, Alex Rich, Clémence Poésy, Samantha Colley, T.R. Knight and Seth Gabel.

Milan Records will release a new EP for the National Geographic original series Genius. ‘Show Us Your Musical Genius’ Winners Announced
Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe have announced the winners in the Show Us Your Musical Genius competition. The challenge, presented by NatGeo, Fox 21, Milan Records and hosted by indi.com, had contestants submit their rendition of Zimmer and Balfe’s Emmy-nominated main title theme for the NatGeo TV series Genius. Zimmer & Balfe’s prize winner is entitled Pipe Dream created by Henrik Lindström and Normann Bjorvand from Sweden (click here to check out the video). The Buzz winner is What is Time by Nick Nußbickel from Germany (watch the video here). Top prize winners of the musical challenge are invited to a Hans Zimmer or Lorne Balfe recording session in London or Los Angeles.

Milan Records will release the first full soundtrack album for the Nat Geo original series Genius. The album features selections from the original music of the show’s first season composed by Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genisys, Marcella). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 23 and will be available to download here. The CD version is set to come out on July 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Premiering tonight is the new Lifetime original series Mary Kills People created by Tara Armstrong and starring Caroline Dhavernas, Jay Ryan, Richard Short, Lyriq Bent, Greg Bryk and Charlotte Sullivan. The show’s original music is composed by John Rowley (Defendor, Weirdsville). Mary Kills People centers on a single mother who is an ER doctor by day, but by night, she and her partner, a former plastic surgeon, moonlight as underground angels of death and help terminally ill patients slip away on their own terms.
