Sherri Chung (Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai & The Wild Batch, Kung Fu, Based on a True Story, Riverdale, Found, The Last Husband, Happiness for Beginners) is the composer of the new MGM+ original documentary series Let the Devil In. The show is directed by Danielle Franco (Cold Case: The Tylenol Murders) and centers on a decades-old tragedy that destroyed one family and ignited the darkest fears of a small New Jersey town. The 4-parter features accounts of witnesses, friends, and community members as they try to make sense of the unthinkable events, some believing that Satan took hold of a vulnerable teen boy, while others believe that far more earthly demons were to blame.

Making its linear premiere tonight is the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection developed by Clyde Phillips and starring Michel C. Hall, Uma Thurman, David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jack Alcott, Kadia Saraf, Emilia Suárez, Dominic Fumusa, James Remar and Peter Dinklage. Pat Irwin (Nurse Jackie, But I’m a Cheerleader, The Good Cop, Feed the Beast, Bored to Death) who previously scored 2021’s Dexter: New Blood and last year’s Dexter: Original Sin has composed the show’s original music. The crime drama, which takes place two weeks after and continues to events of New Blood, premiered this past Friday on Paramount+ with Showtime and will air every Sunday night on Showtime.

Stewart’s classic sci-fi novel of the same name and stars Alexander Ludwig, Jessica Frances Dukes, Aaron Tveit, Elyse Levesque, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, Luisa D’Oliveira, Hilary McCormack, Birkett Turton and Jenna Berman. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama takes place after a plague of unprecedented virulence sweeps the globe and the human race is all but wiped out and follows a few shattered survivors who remain to struggle against the slide into extinction.

Premiering today is the MGM+ original documentary series Hollywood Black directed by Justin Simien and inspired by the book from historian Donald Bogle. Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple, Haunted Mansion, Space Jam: A New Legacy) has contributed the main titles theme and Camilo Forero (Beckham, Earthstorm) has composed the show’s original score for Bleeding Fingers Music. The 4-parter, which chronicles a century of the Black experience in Hollywood by unearthing personal stories from actors, writers, producers and directors who fought for their place on the page, will be available to stream exclusively on MGM+.
Premiering on Wednesday, August 14, is the Apple TV+ original series Bad Monkey developed by Bill Lawrence and starring Vince Vaughn, L. Scott Caldwell, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Moffat, Natalie Martinez, Scott Glenn and Jodie Turner-Smith. The show’s original music is composed by Waz & Jamie Jackson (Cougar Town, Life Sentence, Bluff City Law, Surviving Jack, Rush Hour). WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the Tom Petty covers created by the project by artists such as Eddie Vedder, Larkin Poe, Weezer, The War on Drugs & others on October 4. ‘Beacon 23’ Soundtrack Album to Be Released
Boat Rocker will release a soundtrack album for the MGM+ original series Beacon 23. The album features the show’s main title theme written by Academy Award winner Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Fallout, House of the Dragon, Pacific Rim, Iron Man), as well as selections of the original score from the sci-fi thriller’s first two seasons composed by William Marriott. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 1 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services.
