Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is When We Were Light written by Ben Folds and performed by Jayd Deroché & Hattie Kragten, as well as an alternate version performed by Folds himself. Also watch the official lyric video and listen to both versions after the jump. A first song (Best Time Ever) has previously been released earlier this month. Premiering today is the MGM+ original series The Institute developed by Benjamin Cavell based on Stephen King’s novel of the same title and starring Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Barnes, Joe Freeman, Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway, Simone Miller, Martin Roach, Julian Richings and Robert Joy. The show’s original music is composed by Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The First Omen, The Black Phone, Cube, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, The Peripheral). The Lumineers have recorded a new version of Tears for Fears’ Shout as the opening titles theme. Making its linear premiere tonight is the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection developed by Clyde Phillips and starring Michel C. Hall, Uma Thurman, David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jack Alcott, Kadia Saraf, Emilia Suárez, Dominic Fumusa, James Remar and Peter Dinklage. Pat Irwin (Nurse Jackie, But I’m a Cheerleader, The Good Cop, Feed the Beast, Bored to Death) who previously scored 2021’s Dexter: New Blood and last year’s Dexter: Original Sin has composed the show’s original music. The crime drama, which takes place two weeks after and continues to events of New Blood, premiered this past Friday on Paramount+ with Showtime and will air every Sunday night on Showtime.

Apple TV+ announced today that composer Jeff Morrow (Snow White, A Christmas Story Christmas, Science Fair, George Carlin’s American Dream, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure) and singer, songwriter, composer and New York Times bestselling author Ben Folds have written the original songs for the streamer’s upcoming animated musical special Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical. The 40-minute special is directed by Erik Wiese, written by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz & Cornelius Uliano and follows Charlie Brown who is determined to make his final year at Summer Camp special, when Snoopy and Woodstock discover a treasure map that takes them on a wild adventure nearby.

Premiering tonight is the Starz original series American Gods created by Bryan Fuller & Michael Green based on Neil Gaiman’s novel and starring Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Crispin Glover and Orlando Jones. The show’s original music is composed by Brian Reitzell (Hannibal, Friday Night Lights, 30 Days of Night). Also premiering tonight is the National Geographic documentary LA 92 directed by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin about the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans (Enemy, The Gift, Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Discovery, The OA, The One I Love) have composed the film’s original music. Ben Folds Scoring ‘Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie’
Singer/songwriter Ben Folds is making his narrative film scoring debut on the upcoming comedy Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie. The film is directed by Jeff Garlin who also stars in the movie with Christine Woods, Natasha Lyonne, Kaley Cuoco, Amy Sedaris, Steven Weber, Eddie Peppitone and Leah Remini. The movie follows Homicide detective Gene Handsome as he sets out to solve a woman’s murder while searching for clues about what’s missing from his personal life. Garlin also co-wrote the screenplay with Andrea Seigel (Laggies).
