Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Kung Fu Panda 3 directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson & Alessandro Carloni and featuring the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson, David Cross and J.K. Simmons. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, The Dark Knight) who previously co-scored the first two parts in the series with John Powell. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Vamps and Patrick Brasca feat. Jay Chou. Also opening wide is the disaster drama The Finest Hours directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana. Carter Burwell (Twilight, Fargo, Carol, True Grit) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the end titles song Haul Away Joe performed by Kodaline. Laurent Eyquem is set to score the upcoming thriller Red Squad. John McTiernan will be directing the film, which follows a former DEA agent with a rogue streak and his select team of mercenaries who descend upon a Mexican border town to neutralize a drug lord. The movie’s cast is expected to be announced soon. Rionda Del Castro is producing the Hannibal Classics production with Michael Mendelsohn. Eyquem has previously scored the production company’s thriller 
Laurent Eyquem is currently scoring the upcoming documentary mini-series 14 Diaries of the Great War. The docudrama tells the story of World War I through the eyes of those who lived through it from opposite sides of the conflict. 14 stories from seven different countries have been selected from more than 1,000 accounts contained in diaries and letters, including the story of a German soldier, a French child and a British lady who volunteered as a war nurse. Jan Peter is directing the series and Florian Dedio & Elisabeth Kiledjian are producing the project with Gunnar Dedio, Serge Lalou & Paul Cadieux executive producing. 14 Diaries of the Great War is set to premiere in time for the centenary of the outbreak of WWI in 2014 and will air internationally on BBC, ARTE France, Arte Germany, RAI and more than 40 other countries.
