Caldera Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the action thriller Tokarev (released in the U.S. under the title Rage). The album features the film’s original music composed by Laurent Eyquem (Copperhead, Winnie Mandela). Also included on the CD is an audio commentary by the composer talking about the concept of his score. To listen to a 5-min cue from the soundtrack and to pre-order the album, visit Screen Archives. Tokarev is directed by Paco Cabezas and stars Nicolas Cage, Rachel Nichols and Danny Glover. The thriller follows a respectable businessman who rounds up his old crew to help him find his kidnapped teenage daughter. The movie was released in select theaters this summer by Image Entertainment and is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi adventure sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes directed by Matt Reeves and starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-McPhee, Enrique Murciano and Kirk Acevedo. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, Star Trek, Lost) who previously collaborated with the director on Cloverfield and Let Me In. Opening in limited release is the indie drama Boyhood written and directed by Richard Linklater and starring Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, Lorelei Linklater and Ethan Hawke. The film doesn’t feature an original score. Nonesuch Records has released a soundtrack album including the songs featured in the movie by artists such as Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, Bob Dylan, Arcade Fire, Wilco, The Black Keys, Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Hips, Jeff Tweedy, The Hives, Cat Power and Paul McCartney & Wings. Laurent Eyquem to Score ‘Tokarev’
Laurent Eyquem has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller Tokarev. The film will be directed by Spanish filmmaker Paco Cabezas and is set to star Nicolas Cage as a reformed criminal searching for his daughter who has been kidnapped by the Russian mob. Sean Keller and Jim Agnew (Giallo) have written the screenplay and Richard Rionda Del Castro (Casino Jack, The Son of No One) will produce for Hannibal Classics in association with North by Northwest Entertainment. Cage, Keller and Agnew are also executive producing the project with Patricia Eberle, Richard Salvatore, Mike Nilon, Hayley Magouirk, Cam Cannon, David Milner and Martin Barab.
