Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Taken 2 directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen and Rade Šerbedžija. The film’s music is composed by Nathaniel Mechaly who previously scored the 2008 original film. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by artists including Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws, Kasbah Rockers and College & Electric Youth has been released digitally earlier this week. Also opening wide is the stop-motion animated 3D film Frankenweenie directed by Tim Burton and featuring the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder. The film’s score is composed by Danny Elfman. Walt Disney Records has released two soundtracks, including an album featuring the composer’s score. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Hotel Transylvania directed by Genndy Tartakov and featuring the voice talent of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, CeeLo Green and Jon Lovitz. The film’s music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh who previously scored Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The film’s original song Problem performed by Becky G feat. will.i.am is now available to download on iTunes. No full soundtrack album has been announced yet. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Looper directed by Rian Johnson and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, Noah Segan and Piper Perabo. The film’s score is composed by Nathan Johnson who previously worked with the director on Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Cut Narrative has released the soundtrack album digitally and limited edition CD version featuring music not included on the digital release is available on La-La Land Records. ‘The Oranges’ Soundtrack Details

Relativity Music Group will be releasing a soundtrack album for the indie comedy The Oranges. The album features two tracks from the film’s score composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Time Machine) and Andrew Raiher, as well as the movie’s songs by artists including Treefight For Sunlight, The Submarines, Frazey Ford, Jon Allen, Schuyler Fisk, Zee Avi, The Grand Nationals, Dean Martin, Orba Squara and Derlene Love. The soundtrack will be released on October 2, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from the album are available after the jump. The Oranges is directed by Julian Farino and stars Hugh Laurie, Leighton Meester, Catherine Keener, Adam Brody, Alia Shawkat, Allison Janney and Oliver Platt. The film about a man who begins an affair with the daughter of the family who lives across the street premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by ATO Pictures for a US theatrical release on October 5.

Klaus Badelt to Score ‘Fly Me to the Moon’

Klaus Badelt has been tapped to score the French action adventure comedy Fly Me to the Moon. The film reunites the composer with director Pascal Chaumail. They previously collaborated on the 2010 romantic comedy Heartbreaker starring Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis. Fly Me to the Moon stars Diane Kruger and Dany Boon and follows a successful woman in love who tries to break her family curse of every first marriage ending in divorce, by dashing to the alter with a random stranger before marrying her boyfriend. The Heartbreaker team of Nicolas Duval Adassovsky, Yann Zenou and Laurent Zeiton is producing for Quad Productions. Zeiton has also co-written the screenplay with Yoann Gromb. Badelt has also recently scored the comedy 30° couleur for the production company. Fly Me to the Moon is scheduled for a release in France on October 31, 2012 followed by a release in other European markets. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.

’30° Couleur’ Soundtrack Details

SMART will be releasing a soundtrack album for the French comedy 30° couleur. The album includes the original score from the movie composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Time Machine), as well as the song Eye Abada by Asa. The soundtrack will be released digitally in France on March 12, 2012. No word yet on a domestic release. For audio clips from all tracks on the album, visit Amazon.fr. 30° couleur is directed by Lucien Jean-Baptiste and Philippe Larue and stars Jean-Baptiste and Edouard Montoute. The movie produced by Quad Films (the company behind the French local box office hit Intouchables) is set for a release in France on March 14.

‘Rebellion’ Soundtrack Released

Labelzero has released a soundtrack album for the French thriller Rebellion (L’ordre et la morale). The album includes the original score by composer Klaus Badelt. The composer collaborated with French industrial percussion band Les Tambours du Bronx on the music for the film. The soundtrack is available digitally on Klaus Badelt’s official website and can be purchased for the price of your choice. Rebellion is co-written and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz and also stars in the film alongside Sylvie Testud and Philippe Torreton. The movie was released in France this past weekend and is currently awaiting a domestic release date.

Klaus Badelt’s ‘War of the Buttons’ Score Released

Strategic Marketing Group has released a soundtrack album for the new movie adaptation of War of the Buttons (La guerre des boutons). The album includes the original score by composer Klaus Badelt, which was recorded with the London Metropolitan Orchestra. The soundtrack is currently only available in France, but a domestic release is expected in the near future. To listen to audio clips from the score, check out the French Amazon site. La guerre des boutons is directed by Yann Samuell (Love Me if You Dare, My Sassy Girl) and produced by Matthew Gledhill. The movie tells the classic story of the battles waged by a band of kids from two rival villages in the southern French countryside.

Three new movies are opening wide this Labor Day weekend:

Opening in almost 3000 theaters is the horror thriller Shark Night 3D directed by David R. Ellis and starring Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Katharine McPhee, Donal Logue, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz and Joel David Moore. The movie’s score is written by Graeme Revell. A soundtrack album featuring Revell’s music has been released earlier this week by Cutting Edge. Already in theater since Wednesday is the political thriller The Debt directed by John Madden and starring Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington and Tom Wilkinson. The composer of the film is Thomas Newman. Silva Screen Records will also be releasing a physical CD of the soundtrack overseas.

Seven Days in Utopia directed by Matt Russell and starring Robert Duvall, Melissa Leo and Lucas Black tells the story of a talented young golfer who finds himself unexpectedly stranded in Utopia, Texas.

Klaus Badelt is the composer of the upcoming indie dark comedy The Oranges. The movie is directed by Julian Farino (Entourage) and stars Hugh Laurie, Leighton Meester, Catherine Keener, Adam Brody, Alia Shawkat, Allison Janney and Oliver Platt. The film centers on a man who begins an affair with the daughter of the family who lives across the street. Ian Helfer and Jay Reiss wrote the project’s screenplay. Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Leslie Urdang & Dean Vanech (Rabbit Hole, Beginners) are producing. Badelt previously worked with Bregman on last year’s comedy The Extra Man starring Kevin Kline. The Oranges is set to premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
