Relativity Music Group will release a soundtrack album for the family adventure Earth to Echo. The album features the songs from the film by such artists as The Mowgli’s, This Will Destroy You, Big Data, Chiddy Bang, Heavy English, Holychild and Breathe Carolina. Also included is a suite from the movie’s original score composed by Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, The Raid, Tron: Uprising). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 8, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sony Classical is handling distribution of the album overseas. Earth to Echo is directed by Dave Green and stars Teo Halm, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Reese Hartwig and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt. The sci-fi adventure follows a trio of inescapable friends who begin receiving a strange series of signals on their phones. The movie will be released nationwide on July 2 by Relativity Media. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack EP for David Wain’s romantic comedy They Came Together. The EP features the original songs from the film by Craig Wedren who also co-scored the movie with Matt Novack and previously collaborated with the director on such films as Role Models, Wanderlust and Wet Hot American Summer. Among the songs is the original track It Was the Last Thing On Your Mind, which is performed on screen by Norah Jones. Other artists featured on the release are Amy Miles, Pink Ape, Keisha Renee and Reyna Wakefield. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. The details of the soundtrack album for Disney’s animated sequel Planes: Fire & Rescue have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Mancina (Tarzan, Twister, Bad Boys, Brother Bear) who previously scored last year’s original film. Also included is the original song Still I Fly by Spencer Lee, as well as three songs by Brad Paisley. The soundtrack will be released on July 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Planes: Fire & Rescue is directed by Bobs Gannaway and features the voices of Dane Cook, Julie Bowen, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Danny Mann, Teri Hatcher and Ed Harris. Fidélité Films will release a soundtrack album for the French family comedy sequel Nicholas on Holiday (Les vacances du petit Nicolas), the sequel to the French box office hit Little Nicholas. The album features the film’s original score composed by Eric Neveux (Intimacy, The Attack, Just Like a Woman). Also included are tracks by The Pussycat Dolls, Mongo Santamaria, Camelia Jordana. Also featured is the theme from the original movie composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Time Machine). The soundtrack will be released on July 7, 2014. John Debney has been tapped to score the upcoming indie drama The Cobbler. The film is written and directed by Tom McCarthy and stars Adam Sandler, Dan Stevens, Dustin Hoffman, Steve Buscemi, Melonie Diaz, Ellen Barkin and Method Man. The movie follows a fourth generation shoemaker who finds a magical sewing machine in the basement of his father that enables him to experience life as other people when he wears their shoes. McCarthy is also producing the project with Mary Jane Skalski (The Visitor, Mysterious Skin) and Voltage Pictures’ Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep). The actor/writer/director has previously collaborated with composers Jan A.P. Alexandre Desplat to Head Venice Film Festival Jury

It was announced today that Alexandre Desplat has been named president of the International Jury for the Competition section of the 71st Venice International Film Festival, which will run from August 27 to September 6. It marks the first time that a film composer has been chosen to head the jury, which comprise nine members and decide on the winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film and other awards. Desplat is known for his collaborations with directors Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life), Roman Polanski (The Ghost Writer), George Clooney (The Monuments Men) among many others. He received six Academy Award nominations for such films as The Queen, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The King’s Speech, Argo and Philomena.
