Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish comedy drama Bitter Christmas (Amarga Navidad). Thew album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, Volver, The Kite Runner, Parallel Mothers, Exodus: Gods and Kings, The Room Next Door, The Skin I Live In). Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1991 Spanish drama High Heels (Tacones Lejanos) written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar and starring Victoria Abril, Marisa Paredes and Miguel Bosé. The album features the newly remastered original score from the film composed by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, The Revenant, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Little Buddha, Snake Eyes) The soundtrack is now available to order as a CD and limited edition vinyl on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio samples. Antilles & Island Records have previously released the original soundtrack album on CD back in 1992 and a digital version is now also available.

Quartet Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1984 Spanish comedy What Have I Done to Deserve This? (¿Qué he hecho YO para merecer esto!!) written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar and starring Carmen Maura, Luis Hostalot, Gonzalo Suárez, Ángel de Andrés López, Chus Lampreave, Kiti Manver, Juan Martínez and Verónica Forqué. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bernardo Bonezzi (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, No News from God, Nobody Will Speak of Us When We’re Dead). The film marks the English language feature debut of writer/director Pedro Almodóvar and stars Julianne Moore, Tilda Swinton, John Turturro, Alessandro Nivola, Raúl Arévalo, Juan Diego Botto, Victoria Luengo and Melina Mathews. The movie explores the relationship between two women, a flawed mother working as a war reporter who is separated from her daughter, and an auto-fictional novelist who is the keeper of their pain and bitterness.

Alberto Iglesias to Score Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘Strange Way of Life’
Alberto Iglesias (The Constant Gardener, The Kite Runner, Parallel Mothers, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Volver, The Skin I Live In) is set to compose the music for the upcoming western Strange Way of Life (Extraña forma de vida). The short directed by Pedro Almodóvar and starring Ethan Hawke & Pedro Pascal will be shot in English and centers on a man riding on a horse across a desert to Bitter Creek, where he has traveled to visit a Sheriff, with whom he worked together as hired gunmen 25 years earlier. Agustín Almodóvar is producing the project.

Composer Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Kite Runner, The Constant Gardener, Exodus: Gods and Kings) is reuniting with director Pedro Almodóvar on the upcoming Spanish drama Parallel Mothers (Madres paralelas). The film is written and directed by Almodóvar and stars Penélope Cruz, Milena Smit, Israel Elejalde, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Julieta Serrano and Rossy De Palma. The movie tells the story of two mothers – both single women who got pregnant by accident – who enter the same hospital ward to give birth. Agustín Almodóvar & Esther García (Wild Tales, The Secret Life of Words) are producing the El Deseo production.
