Quartet Records has announced a soundtrack album for Pedro Almodóvar’s Spanish drama Parallel Mothers (Madres paralelas). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyThe Kite RunnerThe Constant Gardener, Pain & Glory, Volver, Talk to Her). Also included are two classic pieces by Janis Joplin and Miles Davis. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music stores), where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. A CD version is available on the label’s official website and will also be available to purchase on Amazon within the next couple of days. Parallel Mothers is written and directed by Almodóvar and stars Penélope Cruz, Milena Smit, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Israel Elejalde, Julieta Serrano and Rossy De Palma. The movie tells the story of two mothers – both single women who got pregnant by accident – who enter the same hospital room where they are going to give birth. The drama, which premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival, just opened in Spanish theaters this past weekend and will be released in select U.S. theaters on December 24, 2021 by Sony Pictures Classics.
