Edward Shearmur has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming comedy drama Elvis & Nixon. The film is directed by Liza Johnson and stars Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley and Kevin Spacey as Richard Nixon. Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville, Evan Peters, Tracy Letts, Sky Ferreira, Ashley Benson, Tate Donovan, Poppy Delevingne and Dylan Penn are co-starring. The movie tells the story of the infamous meeting between Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon in 1970, which was immortalized in the most requested photograph in the National Archives. ‘Fifty Shades of Black’ Score Album Details

IM Global will release a score album for the comedy Fifty Shades of Black. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed, When a Stranger Calls, The Last Ship). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, IM Global will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s songs, as well as a suite from Dooley’s score. Fifty Shades of Black directed by Michael Tiddes and starring Marlon Wayans, Kalli Hawk, Affion Crockett, Fred Willard, Mike Epps, Andrew Bachelor, Jane Seymour and Florence Henderson is set to be released nationwide on January 29, 2016 by Open Road Films. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie romantic comedy Tumbledown. The album features a selection of original songs by Seattle-based singer/songwriter Damien Jurado. Also included is the film’s original score composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet). Atlantic Records will release a soundtrack album for the HBO original series Vinyl. The album features selections of the songs from the first season of the show by artists including Ty Taylor, David Johansen, Kaleo, Otis Reeding, Ruth Brown, Foghat, Soda Machine, Dee Dee Warwick & more. Also included is the series’ title song Sugar Daddy by Sturgill Simpson. The soundtrack will be released on February 12, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The show’s original music is composed by ESKMO aka Brenden Angelides. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Chinese 3D fantasy adventure Monster Hunt. The album features the film’s original music composed by Leon Ko (The Warlords). The soundtrack will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album is already available in several international markets. Monster Hunt is directed by Raman Hui and stars Bai Baihe, Jing Boran, Jiang Wu and Elaine Jin. The movie follows a baby monster king Wuba who is adopted by humans played by Jing Boran and Bai Baihe. Three new movies are opening nationwide this holiday weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action comedy Ride Along 2 directed by Tim Story and starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter and Sherri Shepherd. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Agent Carter, Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief, Hop) who collaborate with such musicians as drummer Sheila E. and trumpeter Arturo Sandoval on the project. Also opening wide is the action drama 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of the Benghazi directed by Michael Bay and starring John Krasinski, Pablo Schreiber, Domicnic Fumusa, Max Martini, James Badge Dale, Toby Stephens, Matt Letscher and David Denman. Lorne Balfe (Terminatory Genisys, Home, Penguins of Madagascar) has composed the film’s original music. Hans Zimmer serves as the executive music producer.
