David Newman (Ice Age, Anastasia, Girls Trip, War of the Roses) has signed on to conduct, arrange and compose the underscore for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming new film adaptation of West Side Story. The composer will adapt Leonard Bernstein’s music from the Academy Award-winning 1961 movie and the 50s Broadway musical for the remake, which will star Ansel Elgort, Ariana DeBose, Rachel Zegler, David Alvarez, Rita Moreno and Josh Andrés River. Milan Records will release the official soundtrack for Harmony Korine’s comedy The Beach Bum. WaterTower Music will release a score album for the animated feature The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, 21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Royal Tenenbaums) who previously scored 2014’s original The LEGO Movie, as well as 2017’s The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Good Deeds Music will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama Burning Men. The album features the film’s original music written by guitarist, producer and composer Justin Adams. The soundtrack will be released on February 22 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A vinyl edition will be available to order here within the next few days. Burning Men is co-written and directed by Jeremy Wooding and stars Ed Hayter, Aki Omoshaybi, Elinor Crawley and Katie Collins. The film marks actor Wagner Moura’s directorial debut and stars Seu Jorge, Adriana Esteves, Bruno Gagliasso, Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos and Humberto Carrão. The movie tells the story of Carlos Marighella, a Marxist Brazilian writer, politician and guerilla fighter who lived during the 20th century and was murdered by the brazilian military dictatorship in 1969. T-Pain & That Girl Lay Lay), Superorganism, Matt and Kim, cast members Tiffany Haddish, Will Arnett, Stephanie Beatriz, Superorganism & more. Also included are new versions of the Academy Award-nominated song Everything Is Awesome written for the original 2014 The LEGO Movie. Hollywood Bowl 2019 Season Schedule Announced

The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On June 29, the Bowl will host a live to projection concert for Nicholas Hooper’s score for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Sarah Hicks will conduct the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
