Motown Records will release a soundtrack album for the Showtime original documentary Hitsville: The Making of Motown. The album features a selection of songs from the film by Motown artists including The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Jackson 5, The Isley Brothers, Four Tops & others. Benj Pasek & Justin Paul to Compose Music for & Produce Showtime Musical Drama
Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen) will contribute music for and serve as executive producers on an upcoming, currently untitled, musical drama for Showtime. The show will tell a family story that interweaves modern-day and 1959 Detroit, centering on a mystery uncovered by a young musician who moves back to her childhood home. Kyle Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants musical) is writing the series and is also executive producing the Fox 21 Television Studios production with Alice Keys, Marc Platt (La La Land, Bridge of Spies), R.J. Cutler (Nashville, The September Issue) and Adam Siegel (Grease: Live!).

Premiering tonight is the National Geographic documentary Apollo: Missions to the Moon directed by Tom Jennings about the United States’ remarkable journey to land on the Moon before 1970. The film’s original music is composed James Everingham for Bleeding Fingers Music and produced by Hans Zimmer & Russell Emanuel. Kevin Kiner (CSI: Miami, Star Wars Rebels, Hell on Wheels, Wing Commander, Jane the Virgin) is the composer of the new Showtime original series City on a Hill. The show is created by Chuck MacLean based on an original idea by Ben Affleck and stars Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman and Jill Hennessy. The drama is set in Boston in the early 90s and centers on the relationship between an anti-corruption crusader assistant DA and a lauded FBI agent who is skirting the law at every turn.
Daniel Wohl Scoring Showtime’s ‘Shangri-La’
Daniel Wohl is currently composing the original score for the upcoming Showtime docu-series Shangri-La. The show is directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville (Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, 20 Feet for Stardom) (episodes 1 & 2) and Jeff Malmberg (Marwencol) (episodes 3 & 4) and focusses on creative conversation and the emotional side of music-making, using legendary music producer and Def Jam Records co-founder Rick Rubin’s iconic Malibu, CA studio as the backdrop.
Marcelo Zarvos Scoring Showtime’s ‘The Loudest Voice’
Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Good Shepherd, Enough Said) is composing the original music for the upcoming Showtime limited series The Loudest Voice. The show is based on the bestselling book The Loudest Voice in the Room by Gabriel Sherman and stars Russell Crowe as Roger Ailes, Naomi Watts, Sienna Miller, Seth MacFarlane, Simon McBurney and Annabelle Wallis. The 7-part drama explores how Ailes became the Republican Party’s de facto leader, while touching on the sexual harassment accusations that brought his Fox News reign to an end.

Soundtrack EP for Showtime’s ‘Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men’ Announced
Mass Appeal Records & 36 Chambers will release a soundtrack EP for the Showtime docu-series Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men. The soundtrack features the new song On That Sht Again by Ghostface Killah and RZA, as well as three skits by Nat, Chao Hodari Coker, GZA & Masta Killa and more. The 7-track EP, which is produced by Mitchell Diggs & Mustafa Shaikh, will be released digitally this Friday, May 17. Check back on this page for the download link. Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men is directed by Sacha Jenkins and tells the origin story of the group, which includes members RZA, GZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon and Masta Killa.
