Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the drama Trouble with the Curve. The album features the film’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream), as well as the end credits song On My Way (To The Big Time) by Randy Brown and performed by The Neighbors with Greg Camp. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 18, 2012 and physically on October 16. The CD version is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Trouble with the Curve is directed by Robert Lorenz and stars Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood. The movie about an aging baseball scout who is losing his sight and takes a road trip to Atlanta with his daughter will be released on September 21 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Varese Sarabande Records has announced two new soundtrack albums. First up is a soundtrack for the Clint Eastwood-starring drama Trouble with the Curve. The albums features the film’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami, as well as the original song On My Way (To The Big Time) by Randy Brown. ‘Trouble with the Curve’ to Feature Music by Marco Beltrami
Marco Beltrami is currently scoring the drama Trouble with the Curve. The film is directed by Robert Lorenz and stars Clint Eastwood as an aging baseball scout who is losing his sight and takes a road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to take a look at a hot prospect. Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood are also starring. Robert Brown wrote the film’s script. The project marks the directorial debut of Lorenz who has previously produced most of Eastwood’s movies over the last decade including Mystic River, Letters from Iwo Jima and Gran Torino. Lorenz and Eastwood are also producing the drama for Malpaso Productions. Trouble with the Curve is set to be released on September 28, 2012 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Marco Beltrami to Score ‘Snowpiercer’ and ‘Warm Bodies’
Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller Snowpiercer. The film marks the English-language feature debut of Korean director Bong Joon-ho (Mother, The Host) and stars Chris Pine, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Kenny Doughty and Octavia Spencer. The movie is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. Bong has co-written the screenplay with Kelly Masterson (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead). Chan-wook Park (Oldboy) is producing the independent production. Snowpiercer is currently lensing in Prague.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the supernatural thriller Chronicle directed by Josh Trank and starring Michael B. Jordan, Alex Russell and Ashley Hinshaw. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring 14 electro and indie rock tracks from the movie by artists including Blond Acid Cult, The LongCut, Bad Veins, Simian Mobile Disco, Deastro, Ab & The Sea, Capsule, Congorock and M83. ‘The Woman in Black’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack release for the gothic horror thriller The Woman in Black. The album includes the original score by composer Marco Beltrami. The soundtrack is currently scheduled to be released on March 27, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. (UPDATE: February 2012): The album is also coming out digitally on February 7. Audio clips can be checked out below. The Woman in Black is directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Ciarán Hinds, Janet McTeer, Sophie Stuckey and Liz White. The thriller centers on a young lawyer who travels to a remote village in England to tend to a deceased client’s papers and soon begins to discover town’s terrible secrets. The movie will be released nationwide on February 3, 2012 by CBS Films.
Marco Beltrami to Score ‘World War Z’
Marco Beltrami has signed on to score the post-apocalyptic horror thriller World War Z. The movie is directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster’s Ball, Quantum of Solace) and stars Brad Pitt as a U.N. employee who scours the world, interviewing survivors of a Zombie apocalypse. Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Bryan Cranston and David Morse are co-starring. The film is based on the bestselling novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War written by Max Brooks, which is set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic. J. Michael Straczynski (The Changeling) and Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom) have written the screenplay and Pitt is producing the big-budget film with Dede Gardner (The Tree of Life) and Jeremy Kleiner.
Notable Omissions among the Academy Awards’ Original Score Finalists
As announced last Thursday, 97 movies are eligible for nominations in the Original Score category for the 84th Academy Awards. Not included were a couple of scores that have been considered possible contenders. The two most notable omissions from the Academy’s finalists list are Drive and My Week with Marilyn, which both were disqualified for different reasons.
The score for Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Drive composed by Cliff Martinez has received the Boston Society of Film Critics‘ Best Use of Music in Film prize (tied with Ludovic Bource’s score for The Artist), the runner-up award by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, as well as nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Washington DC Area and London Critics Film Circle. As reported in Variety, the score was disqualified by the Academy because a number of songs were playing at key dramatic points during the film instead of the score, and two other composers were listed on the official studio cue sheet in addition to Martinez.
Marco Beltrami to Score ‘The Surrogate’
Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming indie drama The Surrogate. The film is written and directed by Ben Lewin (Georgia, Paperback Romance) and stars John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy, Rhea Perlman and Moon Bloodgood. The movie centers on poet and journalist Mark O’Brien, a paraplegic polio victim who decides to explore his sexuality and hires a sex surrogate and soon develops a relationship that changes both of their lives. Stephen Nemeth (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Dogtown and Z-Boys) and Judi Levine are producing the project.

Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs by artists including Blake Shelton, Zac Brown, The Smashing Pumpkins, Victoria Justice & Hunter Hayes and Big & Rich.
