Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the supernatural thriller Chronicle directed by Josh Trank and starring Michael B. Jordan, Alex Russell and Ashley Hinshaw. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring 14 electro and indie rock tracks from the movie by artists including Blond Acid Cult, The LongCut, Bad Veins, Simian Mobile Disco, Deastro, Ab & The Sea, Capsule, Congorock and M83. Also opening wide is the gothic horror thriller The Woman in Black directed by James Watkins and starring Daniel Radcliffe, Ciarán Hinds, Janet McTeer, Sophie Stuckey and Liz White. The film’s score is composed by Marco Beltrami. Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally next Tuesday, February 7 and the CD version is set for a release on March 27. The final movie to open wide this weekend is the drama Big Miracle directed by Ken Kwapis and starring Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Dermot Mulroney, Tim Blake Nelson, Vinessa Shaw, Stephen Root and Ted Danson. Cliff Eidelman (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, He’s Just Not That Into You) has written the film’s score. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Opening in limited release is the drama W.E. directed by Madonna and starring Abbie Cornish, Natalie Dormer, Richard Coyle, Oscar Isaac and James D’Arcy. The movie scored by Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man) was already included in our weekly roundup when the film received an Oscar-qualifying run in December. Since then, a soundtrack album, featuring the composer’s Golden Globe-nominated score and Madonna’s Golden Globe-winning song Masterpiece has been announced and released by Interscope Records. The soundtrack was released this past Tuesday and has already reached a top 5 position on the iTunes Top Soundtrack Album charts. Check our news article for more details about the soundtrack.
