Lionsgate Records has released a score album for the zombie romance Warm Bodies. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composers Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma) and Buck Sanders (The Hurt Locker, Max Payne). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Warm Bodies is directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50) and stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton and John Malkovich. The movie based on the novel by Isaac Marion about a zombie who rescues a girl from an attack and inadvertently sparks a cross-dead romance is now playing in theaters nationwide.

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the zombie romance Warm Bodies directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton and John Malkovich. The film’s music is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma) and Buck Sanders (The Hurt Locker, Max Payne). Despite featuring a significant amount of original score, as well as numerous songs, no soundtrack album has been announced at this point. Also opening wide is the action thriller Bullet to the Head directed by Walter Hill and starring Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang, Jason Momoa, Sarah Shahi and Christian Slater. Steve Mazzaro has composed the film’s original score and Hans Zimmer has produced the music. A soundtrack album featuring Mazzaro’s score has been released earlier digitally this week and will be coming out on February 19 on CD by Varese Sarabande. ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’ Soundtrack Details
The details for the soundtrack album for the upcoming action sequel A Good Day to Die Hard have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream) who scored his second film for the franchise following 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard. The soundtrack is scheduled to be released on February 19, 2013 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Cinema Musica and Sony Music has also just published a “first listen” of the soundtrack, including two full tracks (available here), as well as audio clips from all the other tracks on the album, which can be checked out after the jump. A Good Day to Die Hard is directed by John Moore (Flight of the Phoenix, The Omen) 
and stars Bruce Willis & Jai Courtney and follows John McClane as he finds himself on foreign soil after traveling to Moscow to help his wayward son Jack.
Awards Contenders in Conversation
A number of lengthy video interviews with some of the composers who are considered major contenders this awards season have recently been published. David Poland from Movie City News has conducted interviews with three composers, including Mychael Danna who scored Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, Alexandre Deplat who has a number of titles in the race (Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and Rise of the Guardians), as well as Thomas Newman who is joined by director John Madden of The Best Exotic Marigold and also has his music for Skyfall in contention. Sony Classical to Release Marco Beltrami’s ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’ Score
Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the action sequel A Good Day to Die Hard. The album features the film’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream) who previously scored the previous installment in the Die Hard series, Live Free or Die Hard. The soundtrack will be released on February 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full album details, including track list and cover art are expected to be revealed in early 2013. A Good Day to Die Hard is directed by John Moore who has previously worked with the composer on such films as Flight of the Phoenix, The Omen and Max Payne.

Only one new movie is opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in almost 3000 theaters is the romantic comedy Playing for Keeps directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Judy Greer, Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The film’s music is written by Italian composer Andrea Guerra (Letters to Juliet, Hotel Rwanda) who has previously collaborated with director on The Pursuit of Happiness. Opening in limited release is the period comedy drama Hyde Park on Hudson directed by Roger Michell and starring Bill Murray, Laura Linney, Olivia Colman, Samuel West, Elizabeth Marvel, Elizabeth Wilson, Eleanor Bron and Olivia Williams. Jeremy Sams (The Mother, Enduring Love) has composed the film’s original score. Relativity Music Group will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next Tuesday. Two new movies are opening in wide release this week:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the found footage horror film Paranormal Activity 4 directed by Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman, produced by Jason Blum & Oren Peli and starring Kathryn Newton, Matt Shively, Aiden Lovekamp, Brady Allen, Stephen Dunham, Alexondra Lee and Katie Featherston. As the previous three movies in the series, Paranormal Activity 4 doesn’t feature an original score and no soundtrack has been released. Also opening wide is the thriller Alex Cross directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) and starring Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, Edward Burns, Rachel Nichols and Jean Reno. ‘The Sessions’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack album for the critically acclaimed drama The Sessions. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, The Hurt Locker). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 16, 2012 and physically on November 13. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. The Sessions is written and directed by Ben Lewin and stars John Hawkes, Helen Hunt and William H. Macy. The film centers on paraplegic polio victim who decides to explore his sexuality and hires a sex surrogate and soon develops a relationship that changes both of their lives. The movie premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it received the Audience Award and was picked up by Fox Searchlight for domestic distribution. The indie production will be released in limited release on October 19, 2012 before expanding to other cities in the following weeks.

Opening in most theaters is the drama Trouble with the Curve directed by Robert Lorenz and starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood. The film’s score is written by Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring Beltrami’s score digitally earlier this week. A physical version is scheduled to come out on October 16. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a number of songs from the film including Public Enemy’s new track Harder Than You Think. Marco Beltrami to Score ‘The Wolverine’
Marco Beltrami confirmed in a recent interview with Film Music Reporter that he has signed on to score the upcoming comic book adaptation The Wolverine. The film is directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line, Identity) and stars Hugh Jackman who returns in the role he originated in the X-Men franchise and is joined by actors Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada and Brian Tee. The movie follows Logan/Wolverine on his travels to Japan, where he engages a mysterious figure from his past in a fight that has lasting consequences. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and Mark Bomback (Unstoppable, Live Free or Die Hard) have penned the script. Lauren Shuler-Donner (X-Men series), Marvel Entertainment’s Kevin Feige, Jackman and Hutch Parker are producing the project.
