WaterTower Music has released an orchestral version of the theme song I’ll Be There For You from the hit NBC comedy Friends. The new version of the song (which was originally written by show creators David Crane & Marta Kauffman, Michael Skloff & Allee Willis and The Rembrandts’ Phil Sōlem and Danny Wilde) is produced by Giles Martin, orchestrated and arranged by James Seymour Brett and performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. The track is now available to stream and download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. The release coincides with the 25th anniversary of the show starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow.

James Seymour Brett Scoring Ben Cookson’s ‘Waiting for Anya’
James Seymour Brett (Cruseo, Lay the Favorite, Planet 51, Outpost) is currently recording his score for the upcoming drama Waiting for Anya. The film is directed by Ben Cookson (Almost Married) and stars Noah Schnapp, Jean Reno, Anjelica Huston, Thomas Kretschmann, Elsa Zylbertsein, Gilles Marini, Tomas Lemarquis, Josephine De La Baum and Sadie Frost. The movie based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel of the same title is set in Southern France during World War II and follows a young shepherd boy and his beloved grandfather who help save the lives of Jewish children as they crossed the Spanish border.
James Seymour Brett Scoring ‘Here Comes the Grump’
James Seymour Brett has composed the original music for the upcoming animated feature Here Comes the Grump. The movie is directed Andrés Couturier and features the voices of Lily Collins, Ian McShane and Toby Kebbell. The film follows a teenager with a vivid imagination who finds himself magically transported via his Grandma’s retro theme park to the land of Groovynham where he meets a princess. Jim Hecht (Ice Age: The Meltdown) wrote the screenplay.

Opening in almost 3000 theaters is the romantic comedy Playing for Keeps directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Judy Greer, Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The film’s music is written by Italian composer Andrea Guerra (Letters to Juliet, Hotel Rwanda) who has previously collaborated with director on The Pursuit of Happiness. Opening in limited release is the period comedy drama Hyde Park on Hudson directed by Roger Michell and starring Bill Murray, Laura Linney, Olivia Colman, Samuel West, Elizabeth Marvel, Elizabeth Wilson, Eleanor Bron and Olivia Williams. Jeremy Sams (The Mother, Enduring Love) has composed the film’s original score. Relativity Music Group will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next Tuesday. James Seymour Brett to Score Disney’s ‘Planes’
James Seymour Brett has been hired to score DisneyToon Studios’ upcoming feature Planes. The animated movie directed by Klay Hall draws inspiration from Disney/Pixar’s Cars and centers on a small-town crop-duster (voiced by Jon Cryer) with a fear of heights who longs to enter an epic around-the-world air race. Stacy Keach and Brad Garrett are also lending their voices for the project. Pixar’s/Walt Disney Animation Studios’ chief creative officer and Academy Award-winner John Lasseter (Toy Story, A Bug’s Life) is producing the film. Brett’s music is expected to be recorded this summer. Planes is set for a release in spring 2013.
James Seymour Brett to Score Stephen Frears’ ‘Lay the Favorite’
James Seymour Brett is currently scoring the comedy Lay the Favorite. The film is directed by Stephen Frears and stars Rebecca Hall, Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joshua Jackson, Laura Prepon and Vince Vaughn. Recording sessions for the music are scheduled to take place in early January. The movie follows a young woman as she goes from in-home stripper in Tallahassee to gambler’s assistant in Las Vegas, working for one of the most successful sports gamblers in the business. D.V. DeVincentis (High Fidelity) has written the screenplay based on Beth Raymor’s memoir. DeVincentis is also producing the independent film with Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks) and Paul Trijbits (Jane Eyre).
