Virgin Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1991 drama Rambling Rose directed by Martha Coolidge and starring Laura Dern, Robert Duvall, Diane Ladd, Lukas Haas and John Heard. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Far from Heaven, Airplane, Ghostbusters, The Age of Innocence). Also included is Louis Armstrong’s Dixie and Ruth Etting’s If I Could Be With You One Hour Tonight. Elmer Bernstein 100th Anniversary Live Concert Recording Album Announced
Willow & Cavern has announced its inaugural release celebrating Academy Award-winning film composer Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Man with the Golden Arm, The Ten Commandments, The Great Escape). The album, entitled 100 Years of Elmer Bernstein, presents the Irish National Symphony Orchestra’s 2022 concert in Dublin, which was conducted by Bernstein’s son Peter and produced by Tim Burden. The release was supervised by orchestrator, arranger and composer Nikiforos Chrysoloras, mixed by George Milioris and mastered by George Deligiannis at Willow & Cavern. The album is being released in three different versions: a highlights edition containing a curated selection of the program and the complete concert edition as originally heard in December 2022, both presented digitally, alongside a limited 3=CD collector’s physical edition of 100 individually numbered copies featuring previously unreleased archival material. ‘Devil in a Blue Dress’ World Premiere Score Release Announced
La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere score album for the 1995 mystery thriller Devil in a Blue Dress written and directed by Carl Franklin and starring Denzel Washington, Tom Sizemore, Jennifer Beals, Don Cheadle and Maury Chaykin. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, Far from Heaven, Airplane, The Age of Innocence). The CD, which is being released to coincide with the movie’s 30th anniversary, is limited to 2,000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. Columbia Records has previously released the original 1995 soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie and three tracks by Bernstein.

Dragon’s Domain Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1977 Canadian sci-fi movie Starship Invasions written and directed by Ed Hunt and starring Robert Vaughn, Christopher Lee, Daniel Pilon, Tiiu Leek and Helen Shaver. The album features the film’s original music composed by Golden Globe nominee Gil Mellé (The Andromeda Strain, The Sentinel, Night Gallery, Borderline, The Organization). La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1981 animated sci-fi fantasy anthology feature Heavy Metal directed by Gerald Potterton and starring John Candy, Eugene Levy, Harold Ramis, Rodger Bumpass, Alice Playten, John Vernon, Jackie Burroughs, Don Francks, Joe Flaherty, Martin Lavut, Marilyn Lightstone, Percy Rodriguez, Susan Roman, August Schellenberg, Richard Romanus and Zal Yanovsky. The 2-CD set features the newly remastered original score from the film composed by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (To Kill a Mockingbird, The Magnificent Seven, Far from Heaven, Ghostbusters, Animal House, Airplane, Stripes), including the score presentation on the first disc and the content of the original 1981 score album on the second disc. The soundtrack is limited to 1,500 copies and will be available to order on the label’s official website at noon today.

The album features the composer’s music from the 1953 sci-fi horror movie Robot Monster directed by Phil Tucker and starring George Nader, Claudia Barrett & George Barrows and the 1953 sci-fi feature Cat-Women of the Moon directed by Arthur Hilton and starring Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory & Marie Windsor. Also included is the original score from David MacDonald’s 1954 sci-fi film Devil Girl from Mars starring Patricia Laffan, Hugh McDermott, Hazel Court & Peter Reynolds composed by Edwin Astley (The Saint, Danger Man).
