Titles include the 1980 television pilot M Station: Hawaii directed by Jack Lord and starring Jared Martin, JoAnn Harris, Andrew Duggan, Andrew Prine & Dana Wynter, as well as the 1982 CBS movie Memories Never Die directed by Sandor Stern and starring Lindsay Wagner, Gerald McRaney, Peter Billingsley, Melissa Michaelsen, Richard McKenzie & Barbara Cason. World Premiere Release of Elmer Bernstein’s ‘Robot Monster’ & ‘Cat-Women of the Moon’ Scores Announced
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced the world premiere release of two early scores composed by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Far from Heaven, Ghostbusters, Airplane, Animal House, Stripes) as part of The Golden Age of Science Fiction – Vol. 3. The album features the composer’s music from the 1953 sci-fi horror movie Robot Monster directed by Phil Tucker and starring George Nader, Claudia Barrett & George Barrows and the 1953 sci-fi feature Cat-Women of the Moon directed by Arthur Hilton and starring Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory & Marie Windsor. Also included is the original score from David MacDonald’s 1954 sci-fi film Devil Girl from Mars starring Patricia Laffan, Hugh McDermott, Hazel Court & Peter Reynolds composed by Edwin Astley (The Saint, Danger Man). Dubin & Joseph Sargent and starring Pierce Brosnan, Kate Mulgrew, Kathleen Beller, David Soul, Peter Gilmore, Steve Forrest, Nicholas Hammond, Linda Purl, Simon MacCorkindale, Simon Rouse, Barbara Parkins and Anthony Quayle. The album features the original score from the 3-part/6-hour event series composed by Emmy Award winner Morton Stevens (Hawaii Five-O, Gunsmoke, Masada, Wheels). Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1981 ABC miniseres Masada directed by Boris Sagal and starring Peter O’Toole, Peter Strauss, Barbara Carrera, Anthony Quayle, David Warner and Paul L. Smith . The 4-CD set features the show’s complete original music composed by Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Planet of the Apes, Chinatown, Patton, Papillon, Basic Instinct, Total Recall, L.A. Confidential) who scored the first two episodes and Morton Stevens (Hawaii Five-O, Hardly Working, One Man Jury) who scored the third and fourth episodes. Also included are previously unreleased alternate music cues, as well as remastered version of the original 1981 soundtrack album. Complete ‘Masada’ Soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith and Morton Stevens announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1981 adventure mini-series Masada. The album includes the complete original score from all four parts of the series composed by Jerry Goldsmith and Morton Stevens. Goldsmith scored the first two parts and Stevens wrote the music for Parts 3 & 4. The album comes in a 2-CD set and is limited to 5000 copies. Masada directed by Boris Sagal (The Omega Man) and starring Peter O’Toole and Peter Strauss tells the story of the historical siege of the Masada citadel in Israel by legions of the Roman Empire in AD 73. The mini-series was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards and 3 Golden Globes and Jerry Goldsmith has won an Emmy Award for his score for the second part.
