Original Smashing Pumpkins member James Iha has signed on to score the upcoming Lifetime original movie Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?. The film is a remake of the 1996 cult TV movie of the same title starring Tori Spelling & Ivan Sergei who also star in the new version alongside James Franco, Leila George, Emily Meade and Nick Eversman. The movie is said to focus on a vampire-infused, same-sex love story. Amber Coney has written the screenplay based on a story by Franco who is executive producing the Sony Pictures Television and Rabbit Bandini production with Vince Jolivette (Palo Alto, Spring Breakers, The Adderall Diaries), Diane Sokolow and Rachel Verno.

Soundtrack Album for BBC’s ‘War & Peace’ to Be Released
Dubois Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series War & Peace. The album features the 6-parter’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (The Woman in Gold, Brighton Rock, Harry Brown, The Honorable Woman). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. War & Peace is directed by Tom Harper and stars Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox, Ken Stott, Stephen Rea, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus. The epic drama based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel was adapted by Andrew Davies and premiered earlier this year in the UK on BBC and in the U.S. on Lifetime, A&E and History.
‘And Then There Were None’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the mini-series And Then There Were None. The album features the series’ original music composed by Stuart Earl (Lilting, My Brother the Devil), which was recently nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in the Best Television Soundtrack category. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2016. And Then There Were None is developed by Sarah Phelps based on Agatha Christie’s novel and stars Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Anna Maxwell Martin, Sam Neill, Miranda Richardson, Toby Stephens, Maeve Dermody, Burn Gorman, Noah Taylor and Aidan Turner. The 3-parter follows ten strangers with dubious pasts who are lured to Soldier Island in 1939.

Alex Heffes to Score History’s ‘Roots’
Alex Heffes has been hired to compose the music for the upcoming History event mini-series Roots. The 8-parter stars Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke, Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean. The drama is based on Alex Haley’s novel of the same title and chronicles the history of an African slave sold to America and his descendants. Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Salt), Thomas Carter (Coach Carter), Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) and Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) are directing the episodes.

Mick Giacchino Scoring Lifetime’s ‘Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow’
Mick Giacchino, son of Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Star Trek, Inside Out), has composed the music for the Lifetime original movie Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow. The film is directed by Kirk Thatcher (It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie) and stars Mary Steenburgen, Jay Harrington, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Graham Verchere and Genevieve Buechner. The movie follows a family who goes on a hunt for a Bigfoot-like creature called the Howling Hoodoo during a visit to the house of their kooky aunt. Christopher Baldi and Tim Burns (An American Werewolf in Paris) wrote the script based on a story by Jim Henson, Jerry Juhl and Thatcher.
