Composer Kris Bowers (Green Book, Bridgerton, Dear White People, When They See Us, The United States vs. Billie Holiday) is reuniting with director Reinaldo Marcus Green on the upcoming drama King Richard. The film stars Will Smith as Richard Williams and Saniyya Sidney & Demi Singleton as his daughters, tennis stars Venus and Serena. Jon Bernthal, Aunjanue Ellis,Tony Goldwyn and Dylan McDermott are co-starring. The tells the story of how Richard overcome hardship, skepticism and controversy to make his daughters the greatest tennis players in the world Zach Baylin wrote the screenplay.

‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday’ Score Album to Be Released
Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the The United States vs. Billie Holiday. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kris Bowers (Green Book, Bridgerton, Mrs. America, When They See Us, Dear White People, Bad Hair). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 19 and will be available to stream/download here. Warner Records has previously released a separate oundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. The United States vs. Billie Holiday is directed by and stars Andra Day who received an Academy Award nomination for her lead performance last week, as well as Trevante Rhodes, Garrett Hedlund, Natasha Lyonne, Rob Morgan, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Miss Lawrence, Tone Bell and Erik LaRay Harvey.

Premiering tonight is the HBO docu-series Allen v. Farrow directed by Kirby Dick & Amy Ziering about the accusation of sexual abuse against Woody Allen involving his 7-year-old daughter with Mia Farrow. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, February 22, is the HBO Europe original series Beartown (Björnstad) created by Anders Weidemann, Antonia Pyk & Linn Gottfridsson based on the Fredrik Backman’s novel of the same title and starring Ulf Stenberg and Aliette Opheim. Johan Testad (The Sandhamn Murders, Inkognito, Drifters) has composed the show’s original music. Music Super Circus has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall when the series premiered in Scandinavia. Covers from Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ to Be Released
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack EP for the Netflix original series Bridgerton featuring the classical cover versions of songs including Ariana Grande’s thank u, next, Maroon 5’s Girls Like You, Shawn Mendes’ In My Blood & Billie Eilish’s bad guy performed by the Vitamin String Quartet, as well as Celeste’s Strange by the show’s composer Kris Bowers feat. Hillary Smith and Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams by Duomo. The 6-track EP will be released digitally on December 25 and is now available for pre-order here. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring Bowers’ score from the drama.

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Bridgerton. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Kris Bowers (Green Book, When They See Us, Dear White People, Bad Hair, Mrs. America). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 25, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Premiering on Wednesday, December 23 is the period drama Sylvie’s Love written and directed by Eugene Ashe and starring Tessa Thompson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Eva Longoria, Aja Naomi Kin, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Jemima Kirke. The film’s original music is composed by Fabrice Lecomte. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on Wednesday. The full album details will posted on this page within the next couple of days. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime.
Premiering on Friday, December 25 is the animated feature Soul directed by Pete Docter and starring Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Daveed Diggs. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Mank) have composed the film’s original score and Jon Batiste has provided original jazz compositions and arrangements. Walt Disney Records has released a digital soundtrack featuring the score, the jazz music and the songs from the movie (click here for the full album details) and has also released two separate vinyl soundtracks featuring the score and Batiste’s jazz music (click here for more details). Soul will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+.

‘Bad Hair’ Soundtrack Album Details
Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for the horror satire Bad Hair. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kris Bowers (Green Book, Dear White People, When They See Us, Mrs. America), as well as the original songs from the film by director Justin Simien & actress Kelly Rowland (who stars in the movie as pop star Sandra). Bad Hair is written and directed by Simien and stars Elle Lorraine, Vanessa Williams, Lena Waithe, Laverne Cox, Jay Pharoah, Blair Underwood, James Van Der Beek and Usher Raymond. The movie follows an ambitious young woman whose flourishing career comes at a great cost when she realizes that her new hair may have a mind of its own.
Kris Bowers to Score Liesl Tommy’s ‘Respect’
Kris Bowers (Green Book, Dear White People, When They See Us) has been hired to compose the score for the upcoming biographical drama Respect. The film is directed by Liesl Tommy and stars Jennifer Hudson as Aretha Franklin, as well as Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Marc Maron, Audra McDonald, Tituss Burgess, Hailey Kilgore, Skye Dakota Turner, Saycon Sengbloh, Heather Headley, Tate Donovan and Mary J. Blige. The movie follows the rise of Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom. Tracey Scott Wilson wrote the screenplay based on a story by herself and Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise, Nashville).
