Also opening nationwide is the documentary Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain directed by Morgan Neville about the uncommon life of the late storyteller, explorer and chef. Opening semi-wide in around 600 theaters is the drama Pig written and directed by Michael Sarnoski and starring Nicolas Cage, Alex Wolff and Adam Arkin. The film’s original music is composed by Ian Hultquist (Assassination NationDickinson, Animals, Yes, God, YesMy Blind BrotherA-X-L). Opening in select U.S. theaters today before coming out on VOD next Friday, July 23 is the French crime comedy Mama Weed (La Daronne) co-written and directed by Jean-Paul Salomé and starring Isabelle Huppert, Hippolyte Girardot, Farida Ouchani, Liliane Rovère and Iris Bry. Bruno Coulais (CoralineThe Crimson RiversWinged Migration, Windwalkers, The Chorus) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. Already playing in select U.S. theaters since this past Wednesday is the French drama Casanova, Last Love (Dernier amour) co-written and directed by Benoit Jacquot and starring Vincent Lindon, Stacy Martin, Valeria Golino and Nathan Willcocks. The film’s original music is composed by Bruno Coulais. Films du lendemain has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score in 2019 when the movie opened in French theaters. Also playing in select theaters since Wednesday is the action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake co-written and directed by Navot Papushado and starring Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh, Chloe Coleman, Angela Bassett and Paul Giamatti.
