Categorical Records has released the first-ever soundtrack album for the 1988 comedy Cheap Shots directed by Jerry Stoeffhaas & Jeff Ureles and starring Louis Zorich, David Patrick Kelly, Mary Louise Wilson, Michael Twain, Clarke Gordon, Judson Camp, John Galateo, Patience Moore and Brad Fullagar. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Pollock, Carnivale, Appaloosa, The Biggest Little Farm, Rome, Blackfish, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power) who made his feature scoring debut on the project. Premiering on Thursday, December 7, is the British limited series Archie written by Jeff Pope and stars Jason Isaacs, Harriet Walter, Dainton Anderson, Laura Aikman, Kara Tointon, Oaklee Pendergast and Calam Lynch. The show’s original music is composed by Lindsay Wright (Without Sin, This Is Joan Collins, The Mystery of D.B Cooper, The Whistleblowers). Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Friday. Also premiering in the U.S. on Thursday is the British series The Lovers created by David Ireland, directed by Justin Martin and starring Rosin Gallagher, Johnny Flynn, Conleth Hill and Alice Eve. Lindsay Wright & Tawiah (Without Sin, Black Ops) and have composed the show’s original music. The 6-part romantic comedy, which centers on the relationship between a bad-tempered Belfast supermarket worker and a self-centered, political broadcaster with what looks to be a perfect London life and a celebrity girlfriend, premiered in the UK on Sky Atlantic and will make its domestic debut on Sundance Now and AMC+.
‘Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Released
WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. The Winning Times Sessions: Season 2 features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Appaloosa, Pollock) and Robert Glasper (The Photograph, Miles Ahead, Bel-Air). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. Lake George Music Group has previously released a first soundtrack featuring Nicholas Britell’s and Glasper’s music from Season 1 last month.

Premiering tonight is the second season of the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty created by Max Borenstein & Jim Hecht and starring John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffmann, Hadley Robinson, Jason Segel, Michael Chiklis and Rob Morgan. Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock) has joined Robert Glasper (who shared scoring credit on Season 1 with Nicholas Britell) to co-score the new season. The drama will air Sunday nights on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.
Premiering on Wednesday, August 9, is the Apple TV+ original animated series Strange Planet created by Dan Harmon & Nathan W. Pyle and starring Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Danny Pudi, Lori Tan Chinn and Hannah Einbinder. Isabella Summers (Little Fires Everywhere, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, The Offer, Physical, Sex/Life, Call Jane) has composed the show’s original music. Categorical Records will release the first-ever soundtrack album for the 2007 comedy drama He Was a Quiet Man written and directed by Frank Cappello and starring Christian Slater, Elisha Cuthbert, William H. Macy, Sascha Knopf, John Gulager and Jamison Jones. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Carnivale, Appaloosa, The Biggest Little Farm, Rome, Pollock). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 7 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. He Was a Quiet Man follows an office worker who inadvertently becomes a hero after he saves a woman’s life.
Jeff Beal’s ‘The Champions’ Score to Be Released
Categorical Records will release the first-ever soundtrack album for the 2015 documentary The Champions. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Carnivale, Rome, Pollock, Monk, The Biggest Little Farm, Blackfish). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, January 27 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Champions is directed by Darcy Dennett and tells the story of the pit bulls rescued from the brutal fighting ring of Atlanta Falcon’s star quarterback Michael Vick, and those who risked it all to save them, despite pressure from The Humane Society and PETA to euthanize the dogs.
