Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the comedy Y2K co-written and directed by Kyle Mooney and starring Rachel Zegler, Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, Lachlan Watson, Daniel Zolghadri, Mason Gooding and The Kid Laroi. Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, Enemy, Speak No Evil, The White Tiger, The Outsider, The Staircase, The Gift, Tokyo Vice) have composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Check out our previous news article to learn more about the movie, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released by A24.

Also opening wide is the horror thriller Werewolves directed by Steven C. Miller and starring Frank Grillo, Katrina Law, James Michael Cummings, Ilfenesh Hadera and Lou Diamond Phillips. The Newton Brothers (X-Men ’97, The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Forever Purge, The Fall of the House of Usher) have composed the film’s original music. ‘The Most Precious of Cargoes’ Soundtrack Album Released

Milan Records has released the official soundtrack album for the animated feature The Most Precious of Cargoes (La plus précieuse des marchandises). The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Queen, Godzilla) and performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. Netflix Music will release the official soundtrack album for the streamer’s original film The Piano Lesson. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, The Queen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Philomena, Godzilla). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 15 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s title track below. The Piano Lesson is directed by Malcolm Washington and stars Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Danielle Deadwyler, Ray Fisher, Corey Hawkins, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Gail Bean and Jerrika Hinton. The drama based on August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same title by is set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression and centers on the brewing battle over the fate of an heirloom piano that threatens to tear a family apart.

The film’s original music is composed by Chris Bacon (Source Code, Wednesday, Bates Motel, Men in Black: International, Gnomeo & Juliet, 65, The Tick) . The label has also released a digital single featuring Thatcher’s cover of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door as featured during the movie’s end credits. Also opening nationwide is the family holiday comedy dram The Best Christmas Pageant Ever directed by Dallas Jenkins, narrated by Lauren Graham and and starring Judy Greer, Pete Holmes and Molly Belle Wright. Dan Haseltine & Matthew S. Nelson (The Chosen, The Shift) have composed the film’s original score. No word on a score release. Warner Music Nashville has released Blake Shelton’s cover of Go Tell It On the Mountain from the movie last month. The film’s original score is composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Haunted Mansion, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple, Dear White People, Mrs. America). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two original songs co-written and performed by Maren Morris today. The film marks the directorial debut of editor William Goldenberg and stars Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Anthony Robles, Don Cheadle and Jennifer Lopez. The movie is based on the book Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion by Robles & Austin Murphy and tells the story of Robles who despite being born without a right leg and growing up in an abusive household rises to become a NCAA Division I champion wrestler.

The movie based on the play of the same title by August Wilson is set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression and follows the lives of the Charles family in the Doaker Charles household and an heirloom, the family piano, which documents the family history through carvings made by their enslaved ancestor.
