Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for the sports drama Unstoppable. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, Godzilla). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 17 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Unstoppable marks the directorial debut of editor William Goldenberg and stars Jharrel Jerome as Anthony Robles, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Don Cheadle and Jennifer Lopez. The movie is based on Robles’ & Austin Murphy’s book Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion and tells the story of Robles who was born with one leg but whose indomitable spirit and – with the unwavering love and support of his devoted mother and the encouragement of his coaches – fights through adversity to earn a spot on the Arizona State Wrestling team.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (December 6, 2024)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the comedy Y2K co-written and directed by Kyle Mooney and starring Rachel Zegler, Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, Lachlan Watson, Daniel Zolghadri, Mason Gooding and The Kid Laroi. Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, Enemy, Speak No Evil, The White Tiger, The Outsider, The Staircase, The Gift, Tokyo Vice) have composed the film’s original music. Also opening wide is the horror thriller Werewolves directed by Steven C. Miller and starring Frank Grillo, Katrina Law, James Michael Cummings, Ilfenesh Hadera and Lou Diamond Phillips. The Newton Brothers (X-Men ’97, The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Forever Purge, The Fall of the House of Usher) have composed the film’s original music. The film marks the directorial debut of editor William Goldenberg and stars Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Anthony Robles, Don Cheadle and Jennifer Lopez. The movie is based on the book Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion by Robles & Austin Murphy and tells the story of Robles who despite being born without a right leg and growing up in an abusive household rises to become a NCAA Division I champion wrestler.

Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Tony Scott’s new thriller Unstoppable starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson features a score by Harry Gregson-Williams. The movie has received the best reviews for any movie by the director in over a decade. The score has been described as a hybrid electronic/orchestral score in the vein of Gregson-Williams’ other scores for the director (Man on Fire, The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3).
